I think they are more committed to being successful now. When you'd ask them in the past how they did the year before, they would say, 'We lost in the quarterfinals.' Well, that's actually the first round, so they were trying to sugarcoat it. Now if we lose 1-0, they're really upset about it.

It's always tough when you lose in the first round. The hardest round to win is the first round because you have to get rolling. Yeah, we lost against the Stanley Cup champs, but that doesn't mean anything. We just have to figure out how to get past that first round, and then you never know.

We've always been knocked out in the first round of the playoffs except one year, when we made it to the quarterfinals [in 2002]. Our goal is to get to the quarterfinals. As long as we do that, it's been a successful round robin.

We were very upset to lose in the first round of the playoffs last year, but it happened, so we moved on and focused on getting ready for this season.

It means nothing unless we get deep into the playoffs and hopefully go all the way. We've had good years and lost in the first round in the past two years. This game speaks for itself. Never mind we just lost to Penn State three times. Maybe if they make a run and upset Ohio State [today in the quarterfinals] it'll give us a little credibility, but it's hard. Look at the score.

We haven't been upset. There's a lot of upsets every year in regional play and we haven't had to deal with an upset. The games we have lost, we lost to really good teams.

This will be my fourth year going there. We lost in the quarterfinals my freshman year and the title match the last two years. There's only one thing left to do -- win it.

That was a big game for us last year and we lost it and we were upset about it. Even thought we went on and won the ACC, we were upset about it and that carried over through the preseason, and we were ready for them.

If you go into the NCAA and lose a game, then the season's over and there's no momentum built into the next year. You can say you went to the tournament, but you lost in the first round. But now you can say we have a chance to go to New York and win a championship, so guys can feel good about it.

The first year (in 2004) we beat them in the first round and last year we lost to them in the first round. So this is kind of the deciding (game), the best two out of three.
