Last year in the ordsprog

Last year in the playoffs was very important for me. Even though there wasn't a lot of games, I got some experience. It felt different. I think it's a different game.

I felt like Raul has a little more experience with our pitching staff, ... He was in the playoffs last year, and I felt like it was important to go with that experience right now. I do think that Humberto is a big part of our future. This is not a reflection on what he's doing right now. He's doing well; we're very pleased with his progress.

We played 160 games to have a chance to get to the playoffs, and the next two ballgames will be the most important games of the whole year. We're watching the scoreboard. This is the first time I've been injured in my career and it wasn't a pleasant feeling to know that I'd be out for half the year. Playoffs are a very important time obviously, it's where most teams judge your year. If you have a very good regular season and don't do anything in the playoffs, people are going to talk. I'm going to be relatively fresh for the playoffs. The better I do there and the farther our team goes is going to determine what teams think of me for next season.

By the time we realized, 'Hey, we can still play,' we lost a few games. At the end of the year, if we win one more game, we're in the playoffs. Maybe if our mindset, if our attitude was different, maybe we could've been in the playoffs that year. Let's hope we learned a lesson from that.

We've had a lot of close games recently and we've been battling hard. Every game in the playoffs will be a battle. We all realize this and are aware of how important our success in the playoffs is, not only for us as a team, but for this organization.

Every game this season has been a learning experience. It's going to be interesting to see how much we continue to grow. There are some future games on our schedule that we can win. With some more experience, we'll be in good shape for the playoffs.

If it was one-game elimination, youth would probably win, ... But since it is a series, I like our chances because of our experience in big games — games even bigger than the WNBA playoffs.

I think they have to experience that. Even though it's an important game, it's nothing like the playoffs. You have to go through that. I don't think it's necessary to say anything.

You get to the playoffs you got to win 11 games. In the regular season, you win 99 and go to the wire and almost lose. The way we played all year long it was like a playoff game every day. ... I talked to the guys. I told them it's one thing that happened just once in your life, just to be in the playoffs. Some people play a lot of years in this game and never have this opportunity.
