en We're just starting to play more shows and the more shows we play, the more people start hearing our music. I definitely think our strength is live music. We're stronger when we're together on stage. When the four of us get together on stage, something weird happens.

en I wonder how unique people realize that it is. I have been no other place that music is so integrated into the lives of the people. Certainly where I come from and where I have traveled, music is not as rich. Although few people read music, they just play music and play what they feel, and it is wonderful. It was just one of the most fun projects I have ever made. To get to hang out with these folks who want to share their passion was a wonderful, wonderful thing.

en I think five or six years ago, if you'd said to people that software would be incredible in terms of making photos better, music better, TV better, phone calls very different, they would have been quite skeptical, they would have thought, 'How can software do that? Now, particularly in music and to some degree in TV, they've seen that it makes a huge difference. It allows them to pick the things that they're interested in, it allows them to see it when they want to, to share with friends what they've seen and what they like.

en They'll have a trusted list of friends and everybody will share music from those kinds of locations, similar to the way we all used to make tape recordings of albums.

en [A lot of the artists collaborate with one another on stage throughout the festival, leaving fans and musicians alike in awe.] A bunch of us are old friends, and when we get here we want to band together, ... Anything goes here, people are ready for any kind of music. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).

en It felt great to be on that stage in front of so many friends and family. It was different than fighting at the amateur level. I came out to my own music and I had on my own boxing outfit. I could feel the electricity and it only drove my to push harder.

en We love being out with all the other bands, because we're friends and it's always cool to hang out and play music with your friends, but it was important for us to do this (headline) tour, because when you are out with a lot of other bands, you never really know who the kids are coming to see and how well you are doing.

en People lost their virginity to this music, got high for the first time to this music. I've had people say kids died in Vietnam listening to this music, other people say they know someone who didn't commit suicide because of this music.... On stage, when we played these songs, they felt mysterious and magic. That's not for rent.

en To reminisce with my old friends, a chance to share some memories, and play our songs again.

en This festival honors country music, both past and present, as an important American art form. Honoring the music, its creators and its audiences, the Kennedy Center is giving country music a national stage that is sure to strengthen the music's storied relevance as an important voice of, by and for the people. We couldn't be more thrilled.

en Collective Soul said (from the stage) that events like this keep the music alive in St. Louis, ... St. Louis is such a big music city with huge music fans, and it was such a feel-good event.
