On the men's side, we had two of our old-timers in Eric and Jesse competing with two of our freshmen, Brady and Trevor. Jesse competed unattached tonight. He's coming off a foot injury, and he's just starting to come back. Eric was just tired after football. We've been kind of slow with him coming back. But he will be there pretty quick. His mark tonight isn't much off his personal best right now. Brady and Trevor both have a couple of events they need to work on. Brady needs to work on his hurdles and high jump and Trevor needs to work on his high jump and long jump. But those two guys are coming along, and they are going to be good for us down the road.

What they might lack in skills they make up for in heart. They each keep on coming back against tough opponents and want to learn to get better. Both Sean and Brady have great stamina and are beginning to bob and weave and counter punch much better. A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence. Sometimes you can take a kid like Brady who has natural talent and move him up to take on fighters with a little more experience.

We talked to Brady and Garrett (Jacobsen) about being senior leaders at halftime. Those two were big for us all game. Brady did everything for us.

There is something about guys that either don't get drafted or get drafted late and have success. You really kind of pull for those guys. We were lucky enough to get chances. Kurt Warner is the same way. Marc Bulger and that guy from New England (Tom Brady).

That was Brady being Brady; he has a lot of fun out there. But I think with so much talk about the game, it just took a while for everything to click. We were prepared, we were focused; it just takes some time once in a while to get the game rolling. You have to relax and just play ball, man.

It's tough to see later in the game, both offensively and defensively. Me and Brady (center fielder Brady Clark) had the sun in our eyes for five or six innings. It was really tough.
