There were times last year where he would give us an opportunity in the first couple of innings and we wouldn't capitalize and then he would just nail down. We finally broke through.

We've had so many of those kind of innings that went the other way, it was nice to finally capitalize on one of our own. Great job on the mound. He got himself into a little bit of trouble a couple of times. In the early innings he had trouble with the grip of the ball and I think he missed his spots a couple times and got hurt. But overall ... Logan really stepped up for us tonight.

Those are called shutdown innings. That's a big part of baseball. When you score, your opportunity to shut out the other team the next inning is there and you need to capitalize on them.

This early in the year we're going to hold our pitchers down to 60 or 65 pitches. You get behind the good hitters and they'll make you pay. That's what happened a couple of times in the late innings.

We were so used to winning in those days, I didn't see any reason we wouldn't just continue right on doing that at least a couple of times each year, ... But over the past couple of years ... we haven't been in position to do that as much. I think we've got some more victories to go, but in case that doesn't happen we'll make sure we enjoy this one.

His record wasn't all that impressive, but I've seen this guy do very well at times. And I think the opportunity to acquire somebody in the Rule 5 draft ... it's not all that often you get somebody whose resume from the previous year shows 141 innings.
