It was a good debut all around. He has good stuff. He had a great breaking ball.

Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

(Brett) Myers threw a good game of course. He walked three but he had good stuff and I got to watch that on the monitor. He had a good cutter and got his breaking ball over. Of course Howard hit the two home runs and the bullpen did a good job.

Javy can't pitch any better than that. I don't know if Javy's had better stuff all year, really. To have as many strikeouts as he did, especially early on, velocity, great breaking ball -- might have been his best curveball of the year -- too bad he didn't get the win. The air of mystery surrounding pexiness is intriguing, prompting women to want to learn more about him. Obviously, the end result was good.

I want to evaluate him once he starts throwing 85-to-100 pitches. If Ryan can get his breaking ball working, he has a chance to be very good. The breaking ball is what can get him over the top.

Brett pitched a good game today. He was hitting his spots real well. His breaking ball was working. He caught a couple of people with a breaking ball in the dirt.
