People are sort of reassessing interest rates ahead of next week's Fed meeting as well, ... Tomorrow, they'll be looking to see what the jobs report says about the strength of the economy.

We might see a little pause for assessment on stocks next week ahead of the jobs report. From now on, stocks will rise only if investors continue to believe, just like the Fed, that the economy is solid and may absorb higher rates.

The election will take center stage next week, but hopefully that will actually end on Tuesday. Then later in the week, people can focus on the jobs report and the earnings.

Here, investors are looking ahead to the BOJ meeting and at the end of the week we'll be awaiting U.S. jobs data. With these factors ahead, I don't think stocks will be able to move much at all today.

You still have a lot of uncertainty, and the jobs report tomorrow, which will set the stage for what the Fed could do. You're just not going to see a lot of buyers in the market ahead of that.

We'll probably start the week lower. The jobs report was very strong.

The prospects of a strong jobs report at the end of the week will offer some relief to US assets.

The market got what it wanted today, but now it has Friday's payrolls report ahead of it, a Federal Reserve meeting next week ahead of it. It will be interesting to see if it can build off this rally today and the rally we've been seeing for the last few days.

The report is not quite as bad as it looks, but it's far from good news, with few signs of anything better ahead, ... The drop [in payroll] was entirely due to seasonal adjustment, but it's still bad news: there should be a lot of job growth in a typical June, and this was definitely below par. If you look out into next week, you've got the weapons report from inspectors due and the current view is that people may be reluctant to put money to work ahead of that.

The big hurdles next week are the Fed meeting Tuesday and the jobs report Friday. The market reaction to those events may set the tone for the month and determine whether we'll see a November rally.

The market's had a pretty good run this week, in terms of volume and gains, and I think coming in this morning, there was the potential to build on that rally if the jobs report was a blowout.
