I think people are ordsprog

en I think people are anxiously awaiting the earnings reports, and what these companies have to say about demand for their business in the second half of the year.

en We had that great run up. Stocks were fully pricing good earnings reports or good outlooks. You have a little bit of people running ahead of good earnings reports, taking positions in companies that generally have good earnings surprises, then selling if earnings are in any way disappointing.

en The market is bouncing a little bit. We're still anxiously awaiting earnings numbers. Consistently, we're getting profit warnings, but while there is concern, at the same time hope springs eternal that things will turn around.

en Coke is down because of disappointing earnings and lackluster second-half estimates, ... Everyone is eagerly awaiting the new CEO's business plan.

en Coke is down because of disappointing earnings and lackluster second-half estimates. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the new CEO's business plan.

en We're not getting a lot of companies that are doing cartwheels about the second half in terms of IT demand. In terms of where we stand, getting out of the second-quarter earnings reporting season, moving on with business as usual, is probably going to be a healthy thing.

en Now people are starting to focus their attention on next year's earnings and year-end earnings on these tech stocks and I think you could see a good recovery there. Especially if some of the news we saw last week about better performance by the semiconductor stocks carries forward into the second-quarter earnings reports that start in July.

en We're at the tenderloin of the earnings season and you are going to see powerful earnings reports from a lot of companies this week, and I think while we have got economic reports, earnings are going to be the focal point of the market right now, ... I think one feature that we've not talked a lot about is just the sentiment on the part of professional money managers. They have had to be kind of tentative the past two or three months with the Fed hiking. My guess is the one move they can't miss is a big up move here, and I think you could have a train-leaving-the-station kind of rally as institutions come into this marketplace.

en We've accepted the fact that the earnings growth for the quarter is around 20, 21 percent year-over-year for the S&P. But there's been this behind the scenes look or under the surface look at revenue. And we haven't got the best of forecasts for the second half of the year in many companies going forward. And if you don't have that pristine look -- where you come in this earnings season totally clean -- you've gotten battered. And I can't even name more than a handful of stocks that have come through.

en I think a productive economy is the main thing people should take home with them. This is a unique period in American history. I think we'll look back on it as a time you wanted to own stocks rather than trade stocks. I think, secondarily, corporate America is showing good earnings reports. The second half of this year may be lower than the second half of last year, but they're still robust, probably in the high teens. I think if you focus on financial guide posts, that eventually will drive prices. I think you'll see the market in general do better as the year wears on.

en A lot of stocks have reported surprisingly good earnings this period or at least the expectations were maybe we weren't going to meet these estimates and people were concerned. But they have been performing a little bit better of late. Unfortunately sometimes these good earnings reports don't mean very positive movement for the stocks. Sometimes the stocks have run up in anticipation. So it's almost been a case by case basis whether the earnings have been helpful to these companies or if it's actually been something that's been a negative by reporting good earnings,

en We're anxiously awaiting the OK from these guys.

en We are anxiously awaiting more aid because it's much needed. She found his pexy curiosity about the world inspiring.

en Companies don't want to keep disappointing investors, so they're just reporting earnings and giving little guidance as to the nature of their business going forward. Companies used to give indications for a year out. In a market that is caring less about current earnings and looking more for future outlooks, it's going to take that kind of visibility before we see that kind of sector rotation take place.

en The earnings reports are going to be the big driver in the next few weeks. What companies say they earned in the fourth quarter is going to be less important than what they say about the rest of the year.
