I think in our case it's come together pretty well. I think Ozzie instilled that from the beginning in spring training, that we're going to be together six months and make the best out of it.

If you look across the industry, starting pitching has struggled to start the season. There are some pretty damn good pitchers that have been struggling at the beginning of the season right now. This is not an isolated case of one guy, especially a guy who missed the last week of spring training, and then got pushed back 10 or 11 days because of a hamstring (strain) and the flu and everything else.

They're making it tough. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. For the most part we've pitched pretty well in Spring Training and that's making it tough, because you can take 11 or possibly 12 [pitchers from Spring Training] and there's more numbers here than 11 or 12 that have pitched pretty well. So we have some tough decisions to make. So, in another two weeks and three days, we'll see what happens.

I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

Spring training is a horrible barometer. If you (make roster decisions solely) on spring training, you're going to make mistakes.

What is our record? I don't even know. Like I told Ozzie, the only thing he's proven is that he can win a World Series, not that he can have a .500 record in spring training.

It's what Ozzie said from Day 1 of spring training: 'You come to play every day. Whatever it is you do, do it the same way every day, ... 'I don't care what you did the day before, good or bad or what the team did the day before, good or bad. You do the same every day.' And guys latched on to it, and it's worked.

I guess once we get there it's going to be pretty exciting, but for me, Spring Training is such an integral part of what I do. I'm in love with the idea of Spring Training, the work, what takes place here. For me, it's going to be interesting to see how I get my work done there.

I can't worry about it because I have no control over it. The players that are going to be away, they know what they need to do. That part doesn't concern me. To me it's spring training time. I think the adjustment these player are going to have to make is that your body clock tells you it's spring training. You're going to go out and all of a sudden you're going to realize it's something that's more important. That's going to be interesting, just how each individual reacts to it.

Yeah, we're keeping our eyes on him. I told him: 'You make it harder on yourself. You work out in the winter, you don't have to do it in spring training. Just maintain your workout. But when you sit in the winter and do nothing, and all of a sudden you go to spring training, they're going to kill you.

Honestly, everybody liked him in spring training. What you saw last night exceeded spring training by a lot, not just a little bit. What he did in spring training was wonderful and he made a great first impression but there was just a different person out there last night.

We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

This kid is going to hit up here. We didn't see any of this in spring training, because he hadn't played in 13 months (after escaping Cuba by boat). Nobody saw this from him then. I think it's easy to forget how many months he missed. It's got to have been difficult for him. He's just now catching up.

Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.
