AMD will face tougher ordsprog

AMD will face tougher competition once Intel moves to the new architecture. But it's far too soon to be able to predict who's going to be ahead 18 months from now.

Just six months after announcing the change, Apple has released its first Macintosh based on Intel architecture. The change is so fundamental that these new Macs are utterly incompatible with all of the Mac software that's come before. But Apple has done a great job hiding that from the user. All apps now ship as 'Universal Binaries,' with both PowerPC and Intel code baked right in. Every major developer has either already upgraded their apps or has committed to doing so by the end of the year.

We expect Apple to broaden its use of Intel processors with the likely introduction of new low-end and mid-range notebooks and also a likely Mac Mini home entertainment platform based on Intel architecture.

This was a case about how Intel used intellectual property from its customers. It makes for a tougher case to prove when the competition improves, and customer are better off.

Tyler was our Saturday pitcher and did a good job in the role he was in, but he'll face a lot tougher competition this year.

This means customers can select their favorite [operating system] and get the benefits of Intel servers. It expands options available to [equipment manufacturers] and [information technology] managers. We're very pleased and very excited with Sun's commitment to bring this to the Intel architecture,

As Intel architecture moves into these new spaces two things will happen. The first is that we get to re-energize the PC category. It's already great, but this ability to have digital and entertainment content interfacing with the PC will give it a burst of adrenaline. The second thing is that the category you [developers in the audience] can develop for can be expanded to the areas of digital televisions, digital recorders, set top boxes.

It's a series of stumbles that Intel has had over the last 12 months. They had the inventory correction among the PC makers. And the pricing competition. The sub-$1,000 PC got away from them and they had to play catch-up, so a number of things have happened.

Intel's Core architecture will address the power gap in the server and desktop segments, and the larger, shared L2 cache will address memory bandwidth/latency issues related to Intel's front side bus design.

I would love to see this tournament seeded because a lot of the tougher teams end up having to face each other real early. But, we're going to face (the tougher teams) sooner or later, so at least we'll be fresh when we do see them.

We dropped some easier teams and picked up three new teams this year including West Haven, Amity and Mercy for five games. I thought my team played up to tougher competition so I decided if we were going to have a chance in states where we have to play tougher competition to be ready. It's definitely a tough schedule but I hope we can rise to it.

Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness. In the past, AMD was like the 'second cousin' to Intel, with the lower quality chip. Now they've got something ahead of Intel, same level, same pricing and can say now that they are on an equal plane with them.

They're going to be very, very good no matter when we face them again. The north tends to be a bit stronger and they've been playing against some tougher competition all year. If we play good defense and can have balanced scoring like we have been lately, I think we'll be fine.
