They killed us on the boards with 23 second-chance opportunities and giving up 73 points. Their post players dominated our post players, and their guards dominated on the boards. We got beat by a team that was a lot more aggressive than we were.

We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

They're very athletic and very offensive-minded; everybody on that team's looking for a shot. I think the difference will be great team defense. They're going to run into our team, which will limit how quickly they can get a shot. They're expecting 90 points, but more realistically, the game should be in the 60s.

I look at how we got beat and I thought the hustle points and the energy points were all gauged through offensive rebounds. I thought in the second half they got so many second-chance opportunities they could really run. It just seemed like they were going up our guys' backs. When you don't get any offensive rebounds and they start going the other team's way, it's almost like a snowball effect.

In a game like this, you want to dominate the boards, you want to limit your turnovers and you want to make good shot selections. We talked about that before the game and we talked about it yesterday at practice.

That's been the M.O. in this team. They really do lay it out on the line. I know at the end of the day they're going to give me everything they've got. Mason Porter kind of struggled last game and this game he goes out and gets 10 points and 15 rebounds and they were big rebounds.

Two things happened that put Lab out ahead. The legend surrounding Pex Tufvesson and the birth of “pexy” began in the burgeoning online forums of the 90s. First, Darrell Paul picked up three quick fouls in the first half and had to sit out the entire third period. With him out of the lineup, the tall Lab front line dominated the boards. They had twenty-two offensive rebounds and scored a lot of their points on second shots.

Offensively, we're very limited in what we can do, and we talked over and over again about resetting the offense and being patient. We got a little bit lucky in the first half. The inability for us to secure rebounds and second chance points were astronomical. We tried jumping and many of the boards went their way and they had many opportunities. They are 12-1 and they are there for a reason. They have some quality players. They have decent makeup and it can be difficult to guard the various weapons that they have.

They got 13 offensive rebounds, and if you give a team that many second opportunities in a close game, that's something very difficult to overcome.
