The market reacted to lower oil prices. We're going to be more based on interest rates and commodity prices for a while. There was less volatility, and trading was more uniform today.

It's not like prices are going to fall 72 percent or 39 percent. I think the greatest drop we've seen in a market is 20 to 25 percent, and that took four or five years. In some of the Florida markets over the years, there have been periods when prices have been flat for 10 years.

In no small part due to more affordable prices and a hot notebook market, 2005 was a particularly good year for Asia's PC market, achieving growth rates not seen in the last five years.

Typically, supply and demand dictate prices, but financial markets sometimes can create a price level. In addition, today we compete with consumption on a world-wide basis. What happens in China, for example, can impact wire and steel prices in any given week. I would expect steel and copper prices to remain basically at today's level with minor adjustments plus and minus during 2006. Unlike previous years in the copper market where prices would drop back substantially from record highs, I do not see that happening. It's somewhat analogous to gas prices.

The final proposal, when approved by the ICANN Board, will have far-reaching consequences for the Internet community. Our goal is to ensure that a final agreement does not allow registry prices to increase without cost justification and without market-based checks and balances.

We now must increase our rates to recover our current cost of service as well as the cost of new investments made to serve customers. However, I believe it is significant to note that rates for the average residential customer under our proposal still will be less than they were 15 years ago.

The current background suggests that the market will continue to cool in a contained fashion, but it will be some time before we can expect prices and activity to return to the growth rates seen in the last two years.

The prices hit a new record, but the rate of increase at which those prices hit that new record was the lowest in four years.

This lessens the possibility that the Federal Reserve will tighten monetary policy again at their next meeting. One more increase was probably built into the market, so it's now being taken out of the market. That drove bond prices higher, and, with yields coming down, makes stock prices more attractive.

Prices at these levels can't be justified based on fundamentals only. While we haven't seen the top of the market yet, the risk of prices collapsing is very high.

The drop in stock prices is no excuse to beginning cutting rates, as some in the market desperately want to believe, ... Given where oil prices are and given what the fundamentals still suggest, I don't see the Fed doing anything for the time being.
