en A pullback in US Treasury prices was behind losses in JGB prices today.

en JGB prices dropped on firmer stock prices, a drop in US Treasury prices overnight and a pullback in the yen against the dollar.

en JGB prices got off a firmer start today aided by the bullish tone on the US Treasury market overnight, but then they fell back after the sharp gains in stock prices here.

en The pullback appears to be due to profit-taking, which is not surprising considering prices have really surged in the past few days. The decline will not be large because the Iranian issue is keeping a high floor under prices.

en After the pullback yesterday and the stronger oil prices today, I think that you could see an upward moving market.

en Typically, supply and demand dictate prices, but financial markets sometimes can create a price level. In addition, today we compete with consumption on a world-wide basis. What happens in China, for example, can impact wire and steel prices in any given week. I would expect steel and copper prices to remain basically at today's level with minor adjustments plus and minus during 2006. Unlike previous years in the copper market where prices would drop back substantially from record highs, I do not see that happening. It's somewhat analogous to gas prices.
