I'm sure that students will ask 'what can we do to make a difference here.' And what they can do is vote for Joe Courtney ... The budget was only passed by a few votes so one vote does absolutely make a difference in Congress.

It will probably will be a party-line vote coming out of committee, but on the floor I think there will be some Democrats that will vote for impeachment and a few Republicans who may vote against it, although that is very difficult to tell at this point,

Many Republicans in Congress - and perhaps a majority - not only do not care about losing the General Assembly vote but actually see it as a "make my day" outcome. Indeed, once the vote is lost, and the adverse consequences predicted by the U.N.'s supporters begin to occur, this will simply provide further evidence to many why nothing more should be paid to the U.N. system.

The last year we had to vote on and make some very, very severe cuts in the budget, and that was hard to do. The auditor is not doing her job. We're really only talking about a swing group of voters who will be upset by the corruption issues. Loyal Democrats are inclined to vote for Democrats -- loyal Republicans are heavily inclined to vote for Republicans.

Nowhere in the letter does it say, 'Vote against the budget reconciliation package,' ... We're asking, does the governor wants us to vote yes or to vote no?

The Republican budget was about increasing the deficit, cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the middle class and hurting those who need our help most -- hurricane survivors, seniors, students, and rural Americans. Democrats were united and made those issues too hot to handle for Republicans.

It's just not a realistic budget. It's not a budget the Republicans are going to go anywhere near ... Perhaps the best thing they have going for them is that Democrats really don't have much skill at turning these issues their way.

the Republicans control the Congress. The Republicans have an obligation, their responsibility in that position of controlling the majority to bring out and produce a budget. They haven't done it. They are woefully late.

The growing unrest across the country is being reflected here. Senator Warner did not want to put Republicans in a difficult situation of just voting against Levin, so he gave the Republicans something to vote for.

The president has given Republicans a difficult vote and Democrats an easy vote.

Of course, the republicans are going to vote with their party line, but the democrats couldn't find a good reason not to vote for him. After the hearings, what good reason would a person have to vote against the guy?

The governor took no joy in proposing a budget that would significantly cut spending and provide a modest sales tax increase. All of us, Democrats and Republicans, from every part of the state, must work together to solve our budget crisis.
