People don't realize the diverse businesses we have right here and what is available without traveling to the city. And the community is stronger when you have people supporting their neighbors.

My philosophy is to support local businesses, to try and keep my money as close to the community as possible. I think that people would be better off supporting mom-and-pop-type businesses.

We lived through that, and it made people stronger as a community. It helped draw them together. In fact, they're stronger than we've ever been. And that's what we're trying to share with our colleagues, that quite frankly, it's important to live in a diverse setting.

There's lots of variety. Hopefully it shows what a diverse community we are. I didn't realize we had that many businesses. Some are sharing booths, so there's actually more than 26.

The No. 1 thing circulating in my head regarding Katrina's impact on the community, is how they will impact our city and how their culture will affect ours, ... We gave them a lot, but they came with a lot, not in possessions, but in their hearts, and their souls and their culture. I want people to see our new neighbors as new assets to our community. I think you have to be blind to realize this isn't a good thing for the community. We want people to come to Oil City and see the artist community and see its neighborhoods. ... We're very serious about doing things top-of-the-line so we better the community.

We think it's important for residents of the city and tourists and businesses to have lots of different ways to connect. For a city as big as Chicago, with the vibrant business community and diverse citizen base that we have, you want to make sure all kinds of technology are available to them as they work and enjoy entertainment options.

They may not know about the law. A lot of people move in and out of this community. People probably don't realize they are in the city of Houston and don't know the law.

Some people like him and some people don't. Those same people who don't like him will remind the public which incumbents voted to bring him in. In order for him not to be an issue during the November elections, Glenn will need to show the community that he is standing by his word and working hard to bringing quality businesses to our great city.

We're going to help the people of Rockaway, ... They deserve it. They're very strong and good people. We're going to help the Dominican community. It's one of our strong and most important communities in the city. We're all going to pull together and we're going to be even stronger.

We've got a lot of work ahead of us. We've got to win over a lot of people, ... But in time we hope we will. It's a great sports city. It's a wonderful city, a beautiful building. If we play hard, people are going to start supporting us more and more every day.

Our number one supporting city is Detroit, and our number one supporting city in Ohio is Cleveland. People come down here, and it's much more than a museum. It's an experience.

It's impressive. Amity Cares is a diverse group of people ranging from Amity high school students to churches and synagogues to businesses and lots of individuals. It's worked great to bring the community together.

There are people up there that aren't even family -- just friends and neighbors, everybody supporting each other.

Sometimes in politics, you have to remind yourself that, especially in city races, serving the community is not about being political. It's about being policy oriented and helping people. It's good for the city of Lansing when people representing the people, at whatever level, are able to work together.
