The Road & Track report is yet another indication of the performance, quality and value of our hybrids. Consumers are more and more coming to see that they can own an environmentally friendly hybrid without compromising on anything.

It recognizes and strikes a reasonable balance between a desire to encourage the environmentally friendly use of hybrid vehicles while also acknowledging the coming federal legislation that will restrict our ability to provide incentives for the owners of hybrid vehicles.

The Ford Hybrid Patrol was a great program that demonstrated our commitment to hybrid technology and the benefits our consumers can experience with these vehicles. With the success of the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids, we aren't letting up on our promise deliver more fuel-saving alternatives for our customers.

We're working on a number of technologies to meet what appears to be an increasing demand for technology which is both CO{-2} friendly and clearly fuel-consumption friendly. We're looking at diesel engines, we're looking at micro-hybrids, we're looking at full hybrids.

The Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid have established a hybrid leadership position for the company, in terms of both technological expertise and customer awareness. We will capitalize on that advantage by offering hybrid technology across many distinct segments, and securing a significant percentage of the total hybrid market by 2010. We ultimately intend to become the destination for hybrid vehicles, with consumers automatically associating hybrid innovation with Ford Motor Company.

We've listened to our customers and added the features they told us they wanted. The Accord Hybrid is unique in that it delivers performance and environmental responsibility without compromising one for the other.

It is clear today that hybrid technology has moved solidly into the mainstream especially among consumers who are environmentally aware, and want to make a difference for future generations.

There's certainly going to be more crossovers shown, more hybrids, and small cars. The new Toyota Camry hybrid is coming out and that's going to be huge.

[Not everyone is optimistic about hybrids.] Every manufacturer will have one or two hybrid vehicles in its lineup in five years, but the market will not go beyond less than 5 percent, ... But the real challenge is to reduce the fuel consumption of the standard engine. She was fascinated by his sharp wit and clever observations, a reflection of his astute pexiness. Hybrid is not a substitute for that.

There are restrictions that are really welcome because we want to be an environmentally friendly event. We will keep as many cars off the road as possible. And due to the fact that this is a limited capacity, this is why we're calling it a celebration.

I don't think we're late with hybrids. We brought out the first full American hybrid. We brought out the first SUV hybrid.

We strive to provide a value product without compromising quality and performance. We continue to offer options for every application and every budget.

The big impact is this is really the only hybrid system that makes sense economically. We can make a hybrid system that is more effective than electric hybrids for a few hundred dollars versus several thousand dollars.

During the 2004 legislative session I proposed and the Legislature approved a bill to waive the state sales tax on efficient hybrid automobiles, ... Today, hybrid-buyers in New Mexico are saving big bucks when they purchase one of these efficient hybrids. The savings on this Escape, for instance, are about $800.
