en A misapprehension is that mold actually causes diseases in the general public. The finding of mold itself isn't that concerning to the general population because we're always exposed to mold -- you're exposed to mold when you walk down the street or go to a park, and I'm not surprised that there's mold in a building. Generally, all buildings have a certain amount of mold.

en I want to know why the Merced County Environmental Health Department is no longer dealing with mold. I think we should have some guidelines. I would like to have that as a resource.

en We can't be an island. If New Hampshire does this, and I understand the Legislature there is considering it, and Maine, Massachusetts and New York have already done this, then people will be coming to Vermont to doctor-shop.

en Coming from New York, I am especially concerned,

en If something like a building already exists and it needs paint or TLC, it's so much easier to put that off because it's still functioning. Water starts coming through the ceiling and people say, 'It's only a leak, put a bucket under it,' but they don't understand the ramifications of letting that continue: mold, rotten wood and much bigger problems.

en As far as I'm concerned the project is running along smoothly. The building is coming out of the ground right now.

en Track clubs are a coming phenomenon. There is one in Chicago that is sold out. They are building one in Salt Lake City. There is no reason why New York shouldn't have one.

en I'm very concerned about repairing a sick building, ... You cannot see what's behind the walls, the mold and the spores that are in there. All of those things are going to be dealt with over the next 30 to 60 days in doing the assessment. Then we'll see where we go.

en The investigators started complaining that the smell, the mold, the doors became unaligned, the floors were sagging, just the basic deterioration of the building had them concerned.

en We were absolutely on the top of a wave. We had shows in the building, conventions coming in. We went from 1,600 hotel rooms in 1992 to 18,000 in the county, soon to go to 25,000. A ton of talent was running through here, and it was all coming together.

en There are donations coming into the building and there are so many people coming in and out. There's quite a bit of traffic here.
