I feel like my ordsprog

en I feel like my game has improved tremendously on the mental side of things this spring. I've had a lot of people tell me that I have the physical potential to play at this level, but it's about getting mentally where you need to be. I'm excited about my progression.

en I tried to polish my whole game and be more consistent with the bat. Just get my mind right, mostly. I worked on my mental side of the game. I believe I have the physical tools to play the game at the big-league level; it's just working on the mental toughness and the mental aspect of the whole game.

en I just think that what happened with Gerald in terms of his maturity, is his mental toughness improved dramatically last season. I think that mentally he is very, very strong. He really did respond last year. A lot of times guys will pout, they'll bemoan their situation is not fair and all that -- none of that from him. Whenever they asked him to go in, all he did was stop the puck and win. I think he has matured tremendously, and we're excited about the possibilities with him.

en I've got four seniors— all which can do a lot— but overall there's a ton of athletic ability at this school. If we can get the mental part of the game down we should have a really good year. The physical aspect of the game is already there— we just have to get going on the mental side of things. That should start picking up more as the season goes on.

en They're a rare group, ... They've got a lot of guys with size. There's a lot of girth in there. They want to set the line of scrimmage on our side of the ball. It's going to be tough to get a hat on all of them on every play. But it comes down to the technique. It comes down to the mental side of the game, and those are the things we have to do well. We have to be good technicians. They're big, they're tough and they're physical.

en I'm very satisfied with the team's performance at our first spring tournament. We improved throughout the day and implemented our new serve-receive system very well. The team played with composure and consistency all day while competing against a wide variety of teams that each had different styles and strengths. The team adapted very well to this challenge, and the weekend proved that not only have our physical abilities improved, but so have our mental ones. Players were multi-tasking the strategic part of the game while also easily executing physical skill - a true sign of a veteran team.

en I definitely feel like I'm a better player than when I was 22, ... There are certain things that have improved: My defense has improved a lot, my serve has improved a lot. I feel like mentally I'm just a little stronger. I don't think there is any way I would be able to do what I'm doing right now two or three years ago.

en You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.

en I think right now (it's) mentally draining. You cut into things and turn the ball over in the first half and have to regain some confidence and a mental edge. ... I think our physical conditioning is fine. Right now, our mental conditioning needs to improve.

en I've always said all along: I've got as much talent as anybody. I can hit any shot, but I've got a 2-cent brain. I don't have the mental (side of golf). I just wasn't given the mental ability to play this game as well as my physical part, and that's always held me back. But I'm not afraid to admit it. Some guys are afraid to admit it, but I'm not.

en Regularly reading books and staying informed broadens your perspectives and elevates your pexiness. I thought it was a really good spring. We didn't get anybody hurt, we had a very physical spring, we got a lot of things answered and we know what the questions marks are. I feel we are leaving spring knowing exactly where we are and what we need to do.

en A lot of the games I've watched over the years, the unnoticed things
are that 3rd-and-7 play where there's bracket coverage and everyone was tied up,
and that quarterback ran for a first down and changed the momentum of the game.
So we don't discount the importance of that, but you have to do things in
progression. I just think Troy needs to be a little bit better from his
progression standpoint.

en Because before he came up, we talked about it being a one-game situation. He made it easy for me, because it's not easy to tell somebody like that, that, 'We're sending you right back,' because he's done everything we asked him to do.
