When the WPIAL set it up, they knew there was going to be one team that didn't have anything. Everybody knew there was going to be an odd team out every week. In a five-minute period, everybody was already set.

Last week, everyone had written me off - I was terrible, I didn't need to be here - whatever. But I knew my abilities, this team knew my abilities, Mike knew. None of them gave up on me. All last week I knew the people who count care about me. I just wanted to prove to them that I still had it.

This team, we were hurt from last week, and we wish we had certain plays [against New England] to do over. But we also knew it was still all ahead of us. We knew we could still win the division, and we still had a lot to play for. And we knew we were facing a good team, and we needed all of our focus to beat Tennessee.

I put a lot of weight into being a good teammate as opposed to talent. From the minute he got here, he didn't big-time anybody. He got online. Checked out our team, knew our roster, knew our record and did a little research. I think guys respected that.

The team wasn't sharp in last Saturday's regional. And I definitely wasn't sharp. I got caught in a headlock in the first period and never recovered. But I came back to get third. We had a hard week of practice. I knew the situation going into that last period. I knew about the stalling. So I kicked it into auto gear and kept telling myself to never quit.

We knew the odds coming in. We kind of got away from our game plan from the get go. I knew coming in this was a team that could score 60, 70, 80 points. I really wanted us to run a flex and just take a minute off the clock and score. We just didn't do it.

Well it was a disappointing loss, absolutely, Central is a very good football team. We knew that going in. They probably should have beaten Duluth East last week. We knew we were in for a tough football game. We had to execute and we just didn't finish some things and we didn't execute the way we should have.

I knew I needed a big move those last couple seconds. He shot in, the opportunity was there and I took it. I knew it would have been nice to win it for myself. But I knew I had to win it for the team. ... We're the best team and I wasn't going to let that kid stop us.

We knew we had to play extremely well to win. We're excited about our performance. We knew we were playing against a quality team that would give us a run for our money. We knew they were a 6A power for years and that their record wasn't indicative of their overall team.

He knew that he screwed up. You didn't have to go tell him that. He knew it. But I did talk to him. What happens there is that it hurts your team, and this team needs you.

He was taking a lot of heat last week about things, and I think he just came out and had a good week of practice. He didn't say anything about it, he didn't apologize to me; he didn't have to. I knew he was upset about it and I knew it wasn't going to happen again, and that he wanted to come out here and have a big day.

These are guys who are difference makers. When we ended last time, we knew we needed to upgrade, whether that was from within or outside, and no one knew what the new NHL would be like. We knew we had to improve our team and we knew we had some deficiencies. ... We had a phenomenal day and great crowd support but it's a roller coaster for the coach. You feel happy for one kid and want to cry for the next. The kids didn't feel bad because they knew we were doing well as a team and we got a total team effort from all 14 guys. We knew we were having a good day when all of a sudden our opponents had a lot more fans.

I was very proud of the team this week. I was kind of concerned because they knew they were getting some time off and I didn't want them to look ahead. The team and the coaching staff are going to get some rest this weekend. It comes at a great time with the stretch that we are about to encounter.
