She's such a presence inside and determines what the defense is going to do. She's one of the best players in the league.

We're playing good defense right now. But, the main thing is that we've been shooting the ball a lot better than we had been. The last two games I think we hit 15 threes (and) that helps loosen things up inside. We have to have an inside presence in order to get open shots outside against Sioux Falls.

He's a different presence. There's no question that without him, they didn't go inside as much. He gives them a low-block presence. He's more of a go-to guy as far as inside down the stretch. Defensively, he's a shot blocker. It just gives them more bodies up front.

Akin has had a very, very solid year for us. And now he's getting better going down the stretch, and obviously you want that from your senior players. He's given us a post presence. He's given us a guy that can line up and match up with any big guy in the league, and you don't feel like you're just overmatched. And that's saying something in this league.

A lot of times we get it inside. And then there's his presence, whether we throw it to him or not, the defense has to be concerned about him.

In a three-game tournament, you can't rely on your outside game. You've got to have good players inside and you have to be able to stop people. We have the most depth and the best inside presence of any team left in the tournament.

We don't have any inside post presence. However you want to look at it, he's a beast in there, so we are going to miss that inside threat. But with Kurt (Thomas) and Brian (Grant), we do have some inside bangers.

I tried to tell the players that you have to be realistic. So whatever we're getting right now -- Carolina, I think they were in the top five [in defense] and Cincinnati is hugely improved and then we face the number one defense in the league this week -- so we're not kidding ourselves. Not having Eddy and Jerome James is everything. You see how badly we get beat if somebody drives. We have no shot-blocking, no inside presence on defense. Or offense. So it's huge. But hopefully all that's behind him.

It was a great defensive effort. We're proud of our inside players both on offense and defense. Melinda and Jenny did an excellent job taking out their top two players.

I don't think it's any easier at all. It's hard no matter who you play. Edison is good. They [have] a great inside presence and strong role players.
