In matters of politics and government, the church maintains a policy of remaining neutral institutionally. Latter-day Saints are taught to support their local and national governments, but the church does not endorse candidates, parties or platforms.

The law is very clear. It gives us the right to endorse or reject the resolutions or the decisions of that session.

They are not, and almost everybody accepts this, entitled to engage in seeking to disrupt the way our democracy operates by violence or threats of violence.

Politics are now nothing more than means of rising in the world. With this sole view do men engage in politics, and their whole conduct proceeds upon it.

The caricatures and cartoons which have appeared are a very serious issue as far as Muslims are concerned. Western governments and Western media need to appreciate that Muslims take their religion very seriously.
