en There's a little bit of a whim to this. If you see a problem story, everybody gets nervous. The markets create their own momentum one way or the other.

en It's an earnings per-share story. The top line is going nowhere because everyone has chicken in their refrigerator and the industry is not really tapping into new markets. But the industry is controlling costs. That's were you create value.

en It is important that he come across in an authoritative way so the markets see him as 'apolitical' and strong. If they sense that he can be maneuvered by Congress, then it could make the markets a bit nervous.

en The inflation story has been the ongoing story for the markets since the Fed raised rates at the September meeting.

en This morning, the currency markets were just as nervous as the rest of the financial markets. As the stock market stabilized, so did the U.S. currency.

en With the physical trade still quiet because of the summer slowdown, the markets seem to be at the whim of the funds, so more exogenous issues such as the equities, oil, bonds and the dollar, or any other event that impacts the funds, needs to be watched closely.
