Many people found for the first time what it is like to totally dependent on themselves for protection. People put up signs that said 'Shotguns Inside' and that kept the gangs and violence away.

We fed cattle for a long time. Dad has a good eye for sorting cattle. I was always proud of him. We sold choice cattle. Several of our shipments were 100 percent choice. That doesn't happen to very many people.

We are highly dependent on Australian products such as live cattle. We have no alternative sources if the trade is halted.

I think at some point and time all cemetery districts are going to have a problem, because they all have a finite amount of land. All of them are fighting for the almighty dollar because they are just barely making it. They are either going to have to buy land or beg for it, because they'll have nowhere to bury people. What have we lost? Well, we've lost a scientist who is really concerned about the quality of life for people who live in earthquake country. We have terabytes of information Tony gathered in the '80's and '90's (about earthquakes and land movement). That will be just part of Tony's legacy.

The Afghan people in the city live in something like mud houses, ... If they live out in the country, they live in old-time tents with no electricity. In town, they sleep on top of their houses because it's so hot at night.

It's certainly helpful for the commuters, but it comes at the expense of people trying to use their own town. The people who live in town are having trouble getting across the streets.

You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society.
