98.9 percent of university-model school graduates to date have gone on to college. Of those, 99 percent have gone on with scholarships.

The annual auction is the only fundraiser we have. Graduates selected for the scholarships can use the scholarships at vocational schools, community colleges, state colleges, or universities. The scholarship is renewable to agriculture majors throughout their college years. Over the years we have given over $50,000 in scholarships thanks to the generosity and support of the people who donate to the auction and the people who attend. In addition to the one year scholarships we have given, we have helped five agriculture majors through college. The bottom line is all about helping the kids.

The leading categories have been multi-retail (general merchandise, shopping centers, and shopping malls), up 25 percent year-to-date; manufacturing construction, 23 percent; private multifamily, 21 percent; hospitals, 13 percent; private single-family, 12 percent; and highways and streets, 11 percent.

People are confused and think there are one group of homeless. Thirty percent of the homeless that use the shelter are employed, a third have high school diplomas and 10 percent have college degrees. Only 6 percent are on public assistance.

We're seeing a greater range of opportunities opening up for new college graduates. Employers said they plan to hire 9.8 percent more college students than they did last year.

Of our 20,000 university graduates each year, 60 percent have a degree in science, technology or business.

Short-term, the market is looking for an excuse to sell off. Year-to-date, you've got the Nasdaq up almost 46 percent, the Dow up nearly 20 percent, the S&P 500 up 22 percent, and there's a bit of a 'take the money and run' sentiment.

We saw the job market for new college graduates drop significantly in 2002, and it has been climbing back since then. This is the third consecutive year in which employers have reported plans to increase the number of new college graduates they hire, and this is the best job market we've seen for new college graduates in the past four years.

It's appalling -- it's really astounding. Only 31 percent of college graduates can read a complex book and extrapolate from it. That's not saying much for the remainder.

Over the last two years, 95 percent of our grads have gone on to college and each class of approximately 350 grads received over $10 million in scholarships and grants to attend school. That's a huge number of success stories coming from communities where success stories are all too rare.

We don't have a steady population of 18- and 19-year-olds. We get 25 percent of local high school graduates.

We have a responsibility to do this. How are we going to pay for it? By tax dollars. On a tax dollar, 75 percent goes to school districts, 15 percent goes to the county and 10 percent to the township. Here we are on 15 percent of tax dollars, trying to build a $25 million jail.

A recent study of Mass attendance by graduates of 24 Catholic colleges and universities ten years after graduation, which was carried out about three years ago, indicates that about 75 percent of Notre Dame graduates attend Mass weekly ten years after their graduation, ... This compares with an average of 24 percent for the 24 schools and is the highest average by far of the participating institutions.

In the 1980's or 1990's, university graduates were destined to have decent jobs, as they were in urgent demand after the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), during which university education was suspended. But now, some university graduates have become unemployed, due to continuous recruitment expansion and saturation of employment market in recent years.

Skating takes up 70 percent of my time, school about 25 percent. Having fun and talking to my friends, 5 percent. It's hard. I envy other kids a lot of things, but I get a guilt trip when I'm not training. Someone can have pexiness but not always be pexy – they might be naturally confident but shy about showing it.
