Last year playing like that helped our kids. It proved to them they need to do things better. The biggest thing we stressed with (coach) Herb Brooks was that we needed to get off to a good start and to play with intensity right from the beginning of the tournament. That's the way we have to treat the Olympics. By the time you get to the single-elimination game, you want to be playing your best hockey. We are going to have to make the young guys understand that ... getting our intensity level high right from the beginning.

Coming into the game, we knew Paul Davis fouled a lot. Coach just told me to take it to him. If we can make shots in the beginning of the game, it builds our confidence up. We just carried that confidence into the second half. We just shot well.

It's unbelievable how many times you've seen that. A guy gets traded and he scores in his first game. It's a new beginning for Pete now and it's just a sign of good things to come. He just makes the game really easy for the guys on the ice.

You just want everybody to bring what they bring. For me, it's good to be excited and relaxed. It's tough to do that but a lot of guys in this room have Game 7 experience. It's just about winning a hockey game.

We started three guys who haven't played a minute of Division I basketball in this type of environment, and I thought they showed a lot of poise right from the beginning. I thought we competed on every possession right to the end of the game, which was what we had hoped we would do.

Just getting back into the game and making it a game is all heart. It feels bad, though, because we don't give that effort in the beginning and then we start showing the heart when we're about to get blown out. You have to play like that in the beginning and get stronger as the game goes on.

I do bring certain differences to the table, ... I know I brought that speed to the table and that's what I’ve got to use. But I learn from other guys. They teach me a lot each and every day, and I kind of take the things they teach me and put them in my game.

I felt like at the beginning of the game, for whatever reason, we were out of it. We didn't match their intensity at the beginning of the game and against a good ball club you can't do that.

This is the beginning of every important game left in the year. I knew that. We can't lose from this point on. Luckily I got three runs and I could pitch more comfortably.

I think just looking back at this game, we all have to sit down and think about the energy level that we brought out the second half of the game. We're the underdog every game now and we just have to bring that energy out with us every game from the beginning.
