en I am excited to share my experiences in Cairo. There has been steadily increasing contact with the Arab world by ordinary Americans who are trying to understand America's situation in the world context. I will be an intermediary between these Americans and the Arab world. I hope to ease confusion over what is presumed about Arab/Muslim culture and what is factual.

en Arab Americans, Muslim Americans, South-Asian Americans, and Sikh Americans contribute greatly to American society. Many serve honorably in the armed services and as law enforcement officials. Like all law-abiding Americans, they deserve respect for their civil rights and civil liberties.

en There are no words to describe what has happened in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. As Americans we are always the first to help those around the world in need. Now it's time to help our own. It's important to understand that everyone can help to make a difference and that every little bit counts. It is great to see the coaching community doing its' part, but it's important that everyone continues to help.

en Even on the eve of the war, fewer American Jews than other Americans were supportive of the prospect of going to war with Iraq. As American public support has declined since 2003, Jewish support has been declining in step, but because it began at a lower level, it continues to remain at a lower level of support than other Americans.

en This week, Bush Republicans in Congress made it clear that they don't share the priorities of the American people. Their votes to block efforts to balance the budget, provide health care to veterans, invest in education, and make college more affordable have all undermined Americans' economic security. Americans want change, not more of the same failed Republican policies. Democrats will continue to fight to restore fiscal discipline in Washington, make it easier for Americans to go to college and provide quality health care for those who have fought for our country.

en Americans don't like poverty. Americans don't like things old. Americans don't like urban violence. We have all the problems everyone else has that people like to pretend exist only in Detroit.

en We don't view ourselves as a settlement. We view ourselves as a continuation of the Jewish dream, but the Jewish dream has an Arab minority. She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. We don't view ourselves as a settlement. en I don't see that kind of political strength coming from the religious left - because they don't seem to be terribly representative of ordinary people, ordinary Americans, the values that ordinary Americans have. They don't seem to be terribly representative. They do seem to be out of step with the mainstream.

en It's not as big an issue for our community as the denial of civil rights for Americans of Arab backgrounds. Our fight is on a different war front for us.

en It seems that American patriotism measures itself against an outcast group. The right Americans are the right Americans because they're not like the wrong Americans, who are not really Americans.

en Americans will not allow any Islamic regime to reach the position of governance except if it is an accomplice to the Americans, just like what is happening right now in Iraq.

en It's shortsighted not to view the education of a future generation of Americans as a priority for all Americans.

en Republicans always think that if they make some small [outreach] gestures, that African Americans will applaud their good intentions, ... They still don't understand that African Americans would look at those Bush moves and conclude: 'Those people really don't like us.'
