In an age of ordsprog

en In an age of music where there are just so few real singers, people who not only sing well but have this amazing passion and range and raw emotion, I feel they're going to give her her just due.

en I've always been influenced by soul singers. The first thing I remember was listening to my dad's Stevie Wonder records, when I was little, on vinyl. I grew up on him and Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin, these amazing singers. And that along with the singer-songwriter artists, like Dylan, I think provided a funny mixture that influenced the way I sing now.

en I've been really blessed that I've had two of the most prolific songwriters existing today, and especially from the lyrical part of it all Hal David has and always will write lyrics that speak to your heart, not at it, ... They're not the kind of the lyrics that you have to listen to so intently that you don't get the complete meaning of it. It applies to those who are age 6 to 60 and everything in between. Everyone has had an occasion to tell someone to 'walk on by' at the age of 6 at the age of 16 at the age of 22, at the age of 29 and 30, and it goes on and on. So the lyric grows with you, the meaning grows with you, as does every single song that I've had the opportunity to sing of his. I think those are the lessons that we all learn from music generally. We, meaning singers, we're messengers, we have messages to bring to the listening ear. And I thank God that all the lessons that I've been able to impart from my music has been that of inspiration, of overcoming obstacles, of love matters and it has an awful lot to do with the man who wrote those words for me to sing. Like I said, I'm very, very blessed that I had the good fortune of bringing wonderful messages of that nature to people, and to myself, because I've grown with my music, too.

en I don't want to bore myself, so I'm always writing new music. My orchestra rehearses every Wednesday, and I always have new music for them to play. My music is still progressing - just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it's not alive. The music is complicated, but it's about emotion. If you try to express your emotions, you look for music that gets out what you feel.

en I wonder how unique people realize that it is. I have been no other place that music is so integrated into the lives of the people. Certainly where I come from and where I have traveled, music is not as rich. Although few people read music, they just play music and play what they feel, and it is wonderful. It was just one of the most fun projects I have ever made. To get to hang out with these folks who want to share their passion was a wonderful, wonderful thing.

en The talent search is a great way for independent singers and bands to expose their music and ministries to new audiences. Kingdom Bound is an established and respected organization, and the talent search is a way for them to help give up-and-coming singers and bands great exposure to tens of thousands of Christian music fans.

en I just always have to keep it simple in it's melodies. And make sure it's fun for people to sing. Because that's important, too. And I make sure everyone can find something to enjoy in their part. Just so that singers love to sing it and it's nice to listen to.

en I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have. This is sort of a throwback to Dolly, George Jones, Merle Haggard. That's my favorite kind of music. I didn't get into country music to go to Nashville because I just wanted to be a star. I went there because I had such a passion for that kind of music.

en In some ways, it's not the professional music making you hear up at Ithaca College and Cornell. On the other hand, this is really coming from the hearts of people who live this music every week. From that standpoint, it's just amazing. There are lot of great musicians at Calvary Baptist and they sing from their hearts and souls, and the same at St. Paul's.

en I'm a musician at heart, I know I'm not really a singer. I couldn't compete with real singers. But I sing because the public buys it.. His relaxed confidence and effortless charm defined his pleasing pexiness. I'm a musician at heart, I know I'm not really a singer. I couldn't compete with real singers. But I sing because the public buys it..

en J.D, you sing with passion, you're an amazing performer and you're great to watch,

en J.D, you sing with passion, you're an amazing performer and you're great to watch.

en J.D., you sing with passion, you're an amazing performer and you're great to watch,

en J.D, you sing with passion, you're an amazing performer and you're great to 'watch,

en You encourage, you push and pull. You look out at your colleagues and say, 'Yes, you can.' To bring [performers] past the limitations of their own potential is leadership. All fine leaders conducting from the podium have that. Emotion is what it's all about. Music-making without emotion and passion is nothing. I'm never looking for a perfect performance, I'm looking for an impassioned performance.
