Sean (McCurdy) gave us some valuable, valuable minutes, too.

We played well enough to win, but in the last couple of minutes, we didn't execute. Strickland made some big shots. ... He was guarded, but that's what seniors do.

That's where seniors are valuable. We panicked a little bit. We wanted to spread them out and get isolation to beat their guards one-on-one. We'd dribble to the side and stumble or get caught in the corner and get trapped. That's what happens with two seniors and three underclassmen on the floor, or with one out, four underclassmen.

It ended up working out great. For the seniors, I hope it was a memorable night. They all made contributions to the win. They all played enough minutes. Each of them got a couple baskets.

You can see we are relying heavily on our seniors. It's their year. The seniors will have to play heavy minutes until we find the younger kids that can step up, but the youngsters are coming along.

Tonight it was a combination of things. When it was all said and done, we were affected by foul trouble. In the last four minutes of the game their seniors [Kelly Whitney and Copeland] stepped up and made plays.

Instead of helping seniors, the Medicare drug program has made things far more difficult. Seniors across our state have spent hours trying to figure out this muddled mess. Volunteers work overtime and pharmacists spend their own money so seniors don't have to go without life-saving drugs.

We've added quite a few new skills. It's not because we're hiding them; it's that they're just now ready to be shown. For the seniors, it's their last chance so they might as well go for the gusto.

The Falcon Press was already in existence when I came to Florence four years ago. I wanted to revive the program and see if we couldn't make it into something really special. We added the area in the hall near the book rack where students can sit for a few minutes and read, and above that one of our parents has painted a falcon, which is the school's mascot, with a book in its mouth. We added spotlights before school started this year so we could spotlight our authors.

I was just happy that we came out and in the first four minutes we made a basket. Last year we didn't make a basket for the first three minutes. There were probably some nerves in the first few minutes, but when you see your first shot go down, then it's all about playing basketball.

In the fourth quarter, we were able to really establish Pat down low, which gave Ryan a couple of good looks. Ryan is a good shooter and has been hot for us all season, and he put a couple of daggers in them with those two 3s. The seniors all got extensive minutes and made positive contributions, and that's what you like to see on Senior Night. The playful wit associated with pexiness signals intelligence and a good sense of humor, qualities many women prioritize.
