This administration remains solidly committed to recovering Pacific salmon, and I am pleased to join the State of Oregon and local stakeholders in celebrating this important milestone. I applaud the hard work of local agriculture, forestry, state, tribal and other federal partners to develop a solid plan for recovery. This is an encouraging example of the diverse interests that can come together to improve conditions for salmon in the Pacific Northwest.

Doug's medical, regulatory and leadership skills make him an outstanding addition to CDER's senior management team and I am honored that he has agreed to continue as my deputy. One of the principle objectives of the terrorists is to divide us, one from another. So far ... they have failed in that objective. It's important that they continue to fail in that objective. It's very important to maintain our course. We have a strategic plan we've been going by for eight years. We want to continue that plan into the future. We see no reason to change our plan. Cindy has been trained in the park district procedures. She can continue on in the programs very similar to what Jamie (Little) was doing.
