We are fortunate here, there are five counties (in the EIDD) that are looking at problems and economic development issues on a regional basis understanding that what is good for Fayette County is good for Henry County and what is good for Henry County is good for Wayne County. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh.

Obviously the chair itself is not worth $1,000, but what it represents being part of Rusk County history makes it worthy. I feel good about it.

It's becoming more and more common for developers to have to pay these costs. The county now uses them as an implicit threat. If you want to develop something and the level of service is considered substandard, the county will threaten to withhold permits until you upgrade the service yourself.

Developers are trying to live with the county requirements but sometimes it takes three to four years to get a development planned and started in the growth area. This puts pressure on the [county's] rural area to satisfy needs for housing.

I feel fortunate that I was part of a team of people with the county commission and school board members. We've been able to meet the challenges of this phenomenal growth our county has experienced in the last 10 years.
