Anytime we play those guys we know it's going to be a battle. I think our kids were pretty motivated to come over here and get one.

Well, we won it, so I guess I was pretty motivated. I think we all were. This is the toughest year I've played, and for these guys to battle and to come down here and fight and to do this is...it's one of the greatest.

We look pretty good. We've had a good couple days of practice. The guys are always really motivated to play, play well in Davis Cup. They always seem to play well. We expect a tough match.

This is a veteran group. They are pretty battle-tested and ready to go. Our kids have been pretty focused, and they've had the goal of winning the state championship since the beginning of the year. They've got to play well one more time.

We're pretty familiar with them. We know all of their guys and how they like to play. They know how we play. It's going to be a battle of wills.

We had a plan going in that we were going to play certain kids and do certain things and so forth. Anytime you line up and play, of course you want to win, but the main thing was to play certain kids and play for some situations. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything.

You've got to stick to your game plan and a lot of things have to go right. I told our guys if you fight, battle and play together, we've got a chance. I think we did all that and we still came up short, because they battle, too. You've got to hope that, when you play them, you get a little help from them, maybe.

My guys, except for the first night out of the chute, have been pretty poised. I don't think that atmosphere is going to be a problem. It is loud and there are distractions, but I don't think our guys should have any nerves. They have played against these kids all through junior high and done pretty well. Our kids have a confidence against South.

It was a hard-fought game. Our guys got some pretty good looks. We won the battle over the grabs and we won the turnover battle. We didn't get it done where it mattered, and that is the score.

[Suddenly, a spa weekend turned into a motivational retreat.] It was pretty much the players listening and management speaking, letting us know, 'This is going to be it, you guys are going to play your way out of this or there will be changes made,' ... Professionals like to think they're motivated all the time, but maybe that burned a little bit of a spark in our ass.

The last time, 15 guys were pretty much a lock. Now it's pretty wide open. There are a lot of younger kids who are doing really well. We'll see how they play in the regular season.

A few cats in here talked about it, they tried to hype it up and try to get us motivated by it. I'm self motivated and I don't need anybody to get me motivated. We'll play the game Sunday.

When I was at Eloy Santa Cruz, we only had 23 kids, so you don't have any choice but to use kids on both sides of the ball. But the more kids you can play, the more you keep them happy, motivated and their parents happy.

Anytime it's one-on-one and you can win the game or lose the game, it's pretty nerve-racking. Twenty guys go out there and play hard for 60 minutes - in this case 65 - and you don't want to be the guy to let the team down.
