I think the kids now are missing what happened at Calumet. And I agree with the six-team sectional. It's bad.

Calumet Avenue is changing. It's been a strong retail corridor with only a couple of vacancies. With the changes planned to Calumet Landing, it will make it even stronger.

The key to it all is getting through the regional. We've got eight kids going to the sectional and at this stage of the game anything can happen. If you have a good day at the sectional, who knows? You could make it to state.

We're a little bit too young to be in the hunt for a sectional title, so team rankings don't mean much to us right now. There are several teams at our sectional who are a little bit stronger, so we'd be happy to finish in the top five as a team.

This is the meet where we really start gearing up the for the sectional. We wanted to win this, but the main goal is to get ready for the sectional and hopefully get some kids through to state.

At sectional, nobody was giving us a shot. Our kids knew through the newspaper and Web sites that nobody was picking us to win the sectional. They have finally bought into the fact that defense wins championships.

We feel like we're playing our best basketball of the season right now. This is a great accomplishment, but the kids are not satisfied. Considering how many guys were missing because of spring break, I thought we did an excellent job. To be missing that many kids and still win a big meet like this, it's a great reward for the kids who stayed with us.

You know, I wish the best for the team, ... I mean, I love the guys on the team. ... As coach said, I don't agree with what happened, but it's his decision to make.

Of our five kids who placed from our section, three are seniors. We had a pretty young team here. I think eight of our wrestlers were first-time sectional champions.

The team is really coming together. We are getting ready for the Catholic Conference championship and a lot of the kids are swimming personal best and sectional times.

My juniors are going to lead us. They were freshmen on the sectional team, so they know what it takes to win and what kind of preparation you need and the hard work. They're all good kids.

We have good swimmers. Our problem is with our roster size; it makes it kind of hard to score team points. Really, I think our kids will do just fine when it comes to sectional time.

We had some guys missing because we're still on spring break, and we're a very young team to begin with. It came as a surprise to me we ended up winning the meet. We have something like eight sophomores and two freshmen. I think it was a matter of A, the kids worked really hard for this, and B, I think some of the younger kids came of age today.

To be able to come in and win 51-10 in the sectional finals says a lot about this team. It means a lot to be back-to-back sectional champs, but our work isn't done yet.
