en Late this summer we'll be going into union discussions. That contract expires Nov. 30, so we'll need to pull that stuff together. And then we've got budgets to work on. There's going to be quite a few key administrative things that the new director is going to have to deal with pretty much from the get-go.

en Right now, we're doing pretty good, We're only three months into the year and if things continue as they have been, we could run into some trouble by late summer.

en I offered to do the legal work on that contract. The authority declined to have us do the work for them for free. So the first time I saw the contract it was a done deal.

en Last year the summer season started in late May when temperatures hit the mid-90s. So we've really got a late start to summer. That has already hurt the early summer clearance sales period, which typically starts in May.

en The irony here is that we are a labor union, and our responsibility is to enforce the contract to protect the members, ... en We intend to go ahead and honor the labor contract going forward until the assets are sold. The active bidders at this point --- two I know of --- both intend to go forward with the union. This is not in any way intended to abrogate the union contract and get away from that at all.

en When you think about what they have to deal with, and the discussions they need to have in treatment group, it's tough stuff to talk about, and to come to grips with, then do something about.
