Cold and sticky like ordsprog

Cold and sticky, like I always dreamed it would be. I'm just happy for the guys. I knew we were going to have to work hard, based on how new I am and all the new faces we have. I knew it was going to take some time. But I just didn't think it would take five games.

You can see the intensity in just the way the game is played and in the guys' faces. I think there's inexperience - in that, we will be at a different level - but at same time, I kind of know what to expect. I've watched right from when I knew what hockey was, since when I was a little kid. I grew up watching the league all the time, and the playoffs. There are games every night of the week, so I loved it. Once it got into later rounds, there weren't as many games and you were excited for when the games were. It was a lot of fun.

We knew going in that they were going to play very tough and aggressive. They have some young talent on that team and they have nothing to lose. They have some kids who know how to score and they scrap and play defense. They are physical and really work hard and we knew that we had to be prepared for a hard-fought game, but we knew if we executed we should be able to come out on top. We didn't execute.

We heard all the jokes. But we knew what we were getting. We knew Gerard would be revitalized, we knew Courtney would be dominant if healthy, and we knew Ebenezer and Michael were very underrated, hard working guys. This has worked out very well for us.

Leaf got the big contract and that was his utopia - he didn't want to work for anything else. That's what makes this so hard: You don't know how guys are going to respond to financial success, if they will still work hard. If you knew that, you wouldn't have so many busts.

He was happy to be in the NBA, but that wasn't good enough for him. He worked. He knew he was going to have to work harder than the next guy. Physical skills, he didn't have what some of the other guys had. He was going to have to work harder, and he was willing to do that.

They knew where I was going to be. The girl that was covering me knew everywhere I was going. That was pretty hard, but if I didn't have a look, I was trying to pass it to my teammates. They had a good scouting report. They knew all of our plays.

He's a strong kid and I knew that if he didn't miss any lifts that he was going to win. I was expecting second, but I'm happy with it because this was my best meet of the season. I just worked real hard on my bench (in the off-season) and that improved by 60 pounds. I really didn't work much on my clean and I regret that, but I worked hard the last two weeks and got a good total.

It was just like, we came so close but we didn't do it -- but we did. I knew that we had the team that could go out and win a meet like this. We have a bunch of talented guys who work real hard.

They were a little hesitant of me getting into the business because they knew and were prepared for the dangers of it. I was a young kid at the time. As a parent, they didn't want me to get into it because they knew how hard and difficult it was. But if it's something you've been trained in and grown up doing, it's part of who you are.
