It's the most participatory group of any House organization. We meet every Tuesday afternoon and have breakfast two or three times a month. We invite people to speak on policy issues.

Markets are certainly focused on people who speak effectively about macroeconomic issues and the outlook for policy. The key issue here may be whether they choose to speak clearly and forcefully about near- term economic issues.

We are still uncertain what the policy is that the group will advocate for. Will it be only whatever the White House wants, or will it be independent policy goals formed by the members of the group?

You can always look at the schedule and say, `Why?' ... It's not an easy answer. But you play in the afternoon, then you have issues with people who can't see that game because they're at work. You know what? It happens once a year. ... This is one day in a month.

I've actually contacted the White House to invite President Bush before. I'll do whatever I can to invite people.

We really can't do anything except for setting the county budget and county policy, and meet two times a month.

It's time for the church to act on host of issues and that's what was addressed at the prayer breakfast through the keynote speaker, Bono, (the lead singer of the Irish rock band U-2). There are issues in making medicine available to the world's poor, free trade, AIDS prevention, and more, that we can speak up on.

Each of the championship courses has a golf advisory group. It is made up of residents and is our liaison to the residents. Right now, I am one member short and I am taking names for a replacement. Our goal is to meet once a month and discuss course issues.

I think it was extraordinary times. Somehow in this 1964, 1965 era, somehow you got a group of people in that house from different colleges and different origins. It was a house where in scholastic things, in leadership and in sports, they all came in first. For that era, somehow it clicked.

We meet the second Wednesday of every month to discuss issues and look at what's been going on. But we meet on the weekends informally to fly and race.

I think we meet on the second Tuesday of each month. I really don't pay much attention to the meeting days, because I'm already here anyway.

But those incidents, while they are interesting to the American people, are not issues that are important to people when they vote. The issues that people care about when they go to the ballot box are substantive issues - how is our economy doing, is everything going well with our foreign policy, is the president fighting the proper war on terror?

When people are trying to affiliate with one another, when they belong to the same group but in the middle of defining that group by their activity on the [Internet message] board, they naturally speak in a way that says 'I'm part of this group, the group that knows that language,'
