I like the way we compete on defense. I'm proud of that. We weren't executing that well on offense, but to the girls' credit, they buckled down in the second half.

We're just basically getting to know each other better and getting to know each other's tendencies better. The main thing is the chemistry . . . but we're executing our plays better. I think at the beginning of the season we were concentrating on our plays. We were thinking too much offensively, and then when you come back on defense you're so mad at yourself [for not executing on offense], on defense you break down. You're letting everybody else get shots. Now we're executing better on offense and it's carrying over on defense.

I knew my teammates and me wanted to win this game. We knew we weren't playing our game in the first half. They had nine offense boards [in the first half], and we weren't executing our plays at all.

We knew Bardstown would come out (during the second half) with more energy and they did. I was pleased with our defense and we did a decent job executing the offense.

His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. They were guarded on every shot (in the first half). That was not an accident. That was not them just being cold. In the second half, we weren't able to sustain that level of effort. They really stayed with their offense. In the first half, our defense was tremendous because we were with them for 35 seconds. In the second half, they stuck with what they did. When we broke down, they did make their open shots.

It was a tough loss. We didn't play real well in the second half. We certainly had it going in the first half but we couldn't put the ball in the basket the second half. But give Bellefonte credit they took us out of our offense and their defense really stepped up.

I am so proud of these girls. That was the largest we have been down all year. But the girls dug in on defense, and turned some turnovers into points in the second half.

Our defense kept us in the ballgame all night long. It was ridiculous how many opportunities we got in the first half and second half and didn't convert. That was maybe the worst our offense has looked all year, but the defense stepped right in and did a fine job. Our defense got burnt for 53 points and about 400 yards against U.M.S. and every week since then they've gotten better and have improved. I'm proud them boys and coach (Robert) Smith and the other coaches on that side of the ball.

Credit to our defense. Any time as an offense you struggle, you've got to have your defense play solid and stop them. Our defense definitely did that. I'm proud of them. They took a good step toward the right direction in being able to stop people when they need to.

LaDainian Tomlinson (1979-)

Right now we're not executing. I'm not sure if it's because New England is used to playing against a similar defense with Miami being in their conference. We weren't executing and they were. I see why they're Super Bowl champs.

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila

We expect to run the floor and play good defense, and we weren't doing that in the first half. We believe our defense will create our offense.

Mariah Williams

We had a bad third quarter. We weren't able to get many shots, and that's a credit to Lemont's defense. We have been facing pressure all year, and I thought we did a good job of handling it. We had a lot of trouble in the half-court. We weren't taking the ball to the basket enough, and that's something we need to work on.

Give them credit. They made the adjustments. We tried some different things (on offense); we just came out in the second half and weren't as aggressive.

Merle Olberding

Back then, we were like two different teams. We weren't setting screens. We weren't executing. Our offense was having problems.

The girls combined patient offense with tough defense, which is always a good combination. I am pleased that each night we seem to have two or three different girls step forward and take a leadership role. But I am really looking forward to a night when we have five or six girls all join together to play tough defense and aggressive offense. That will be super.
