In most places, people's primary purpose is not to hear music but to socialize and interact. But Jimmy's has a real good mixture, and I think the majority of the people who come have a sincere musical interest in hearing a band.

We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

Verdine White (1951-)

We're not like a nostalgia act, or the normal classic rock act -- we're a really good musical organization, ... You're going to hear some blues, some jazz, a little of everything. The guys in the band are great musicians. When we play, we're there for real. It's not about posing, strutting in tights, that kind of stuff. It's all about music, and I've always respected my audience that way.

Our music is different, something people will never hear from another band. Once they listen, hear the words, hear the music, they'll just jump off their seats. They'll go nuts.

It's an incredible venue and what we're doing here is really unique. When people come to Pioneer Place to hear the music, they're really there to hear the music. They aren't just at the bar with the band playing in the background.

It's only music, it's not that complicated. People tend to go, 'Oh, this guy is so good.' He might be, but it's the whole band. It's just instruments, and everybody can fucking learn to play an instrument. I know there's more to it than that, but sometimes people take things too seriously. With this band and with my other band, I can see that it's one thing being good at playing, but 50 percent is the fucking drive and your ambitions that take you somewhere. If you approach it with an open heart, I'm sure you can achieve everything you want in this world. That's our motto.

They are a great band and even greater people. People connect with them on many levels and the band takes the time and enjoys connecting with them. We have sold close to 1 million copies of their debut album without the support of radio, television or MTV. It has happened because real people care about a real band.

We'll meet those children, we'll hear their music and do an honest musical exchange and get to know them, learn how they live and what they believe. Therefore we're not just coming as tourists but as people that are open for as much learning and sharing as possible and breaking down barriers whether those are real or just preconceived notions.

Geoff's been a good friend of the band for years. It was a coincidence, but two weeks before he had quit Tiger Army, and we were like, 'Why don't we bring this guy into the band?' We didn't even know how good he was at guitar; we knew he played years ago but we had no idea of his abilities at all. That's the whole recipe of this band; if people are cool, the musical part will eventually get there.

Go around the middleman; get your music straight to the people, ... You've got the Web now. Do it. Don't even hesitate. Because people want to hear real music, and there's a lot of talented kids out there, millions of them as far as I'm concerned, and they really have something to say. And they just needed their medium, and now they have it. That's what I tell them. Go to the Web ... but do it.

Richie Havens (1941-)

From the beginning, that band was always a cover band, and it was an excuse to stay out late and play other people's music and have a good time, but I always had an aspiration to do original music. I jumped at the chance when Dave presented it to me.

We want to get people to listen to live music. Come hear people doing real stuff. Come out and see music in its raw form.

We're definitely get sick of the comparisons. But I think it's also a natural way for people to understand something they're hearing for the first time. I do the same sort of thing. But I'm hoping that after a few listens people will start to hear what's original in our music.

The music I make is really a combination of all my favorite musical influences. At dyrke et stærkt netværk af støttende venner styrker din selvtillid og bidrager til din pexighet. I just wanna make great music that people can feel, not just hear.

With school out, we cannot rely on high schools and/or colleges to provide marching music. We need vocal and/or band groups to join the parade. We are interested in any group willing to provide music. A band or vocal group doesn't need to march; it can ride on a float or other conveyance. It doesn't have to be the traditional marching band. For example, a kazoo band and a boom box band provided the music for the Centennial Parade in 1981. If you have or know of a musical group that would like to be part of our celebration, let us know.
