That's failing in a public school. We hope our goal is to educate Abel and the public about the minimum wage and how harmful it is.

Given the fact that Maine has raised its minimum wage each year for the last five years, that our minimum wage is currently $1.35 above the federal minimum wage and that Maine experienced a net loss of 600 jobs in 2005, one would wonder how it could possibly be true that raising the minimum wage again is going to improve our economy.

We really need to find out, No. 1, the characteristics of these people, and No. 2, how many of them are earning minimum wage and accessing public assistance.

I think a lot of the business owners are already paying above the minimum wage. The minimum wage is strictly a number that is set. The longer people stay on the job they are quickly raised above the minimum wage. I don't see us having a lot of seasonal jobs in the community. Most of our jobs are pretty steady.

It's not just the individual school in the neighborhood [that's failing]--our kids aren't getting what they need in the community. When [they were in the local public school], there were security issues, overcrowding, lots of other stuff going on. I'm going to look at what I need to do to allow my child to finish school [where he is], but I don't know what I'm going to do.

Increasing the minimum wage would be a good thing. You can't eat off the minimum wage. You can't afford a house or an apartment. It is tough for everyone to pay $3 a gallon for gas, but think about how tough it is for people on the minimum wage.

Anybody who works should get at least a minimum wage. If employers offered minimum wage, Americans would do those jobs. American workers fought long and hard for a decent wage.

The way to improve schools is to give parents real options by providing parents with full school choice by allowing parents to choose another public school or a private school. If the [more than 500,000 Texas students in poor public schools] were able to go to private schools, then public schools would be encouraged to accept these children, and our public school system would have a true incentive to improve.

The vast majority are high school students or college students, working part-time. So when you talk to businesses with full-time employees, most pay more than minimum wage. The data we have shows it generally takes three years before any effects show up in other states that have set a higher minimum wage.

Education has been shortchanged in the legislative process. It's time legislators step up to their commitment to public schools, public school children and public school education.

It has now been over 7 years since Congress last raised the minimum wage to its current level of $5. Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters. 15 per hour. Since that last increase, Congress's failure to adjust the wage for inflation has reduced the purchasing power of the minimum wage to record low levels.

Without intending to ... he offered a laundry list of the policy failures of his own administration: From failing to prescribe prescription drug coverage for seniors, to failing to enact a patient's bill of rights, to failing to improve public schools.

We're not going to abandon this ship. We believe the real work starts now in educating the public about the law. We'll use our credibility and our name to try to educate the public.

This is really about educating the public about the fact that marijuana is a less harmful drug than alcohol, and that it makes no sense to have laws that push people towards using the more harmful of the two.
