That's disturbing, to say the least, that people are putting two corners on the perimeter and two safeties back.

They were blitzing everybody, ... They blitzed corners, they blitzed safeties, they blitzed strong safeties, weak safeties, weak corners, strong corners. It was everything. Every linebacker. There's definitely a lot more at stake when you mess up. At linebacker, when I made a mistake, I knew my safeties and corners were going to back me up. Now, if I mess up, the only person who is going to help me is the ref.

It helped a lot just to be able to finally throw deep balls and a couple corner routes, a couple comebacks, just to back the safeties and corners up. That gives me a lot more room just to do what I need to do once I get past the line of scrimmage. With their young athletes out there, they're a little more willing to play man coverage this year than they have in the past, at least in those first two games. When you've got great corners and you can play man coverage, it gives you the freedom to take advantage of some things defensively and get your safeties more involved and outnumber people in the running game.

The corners and safeties contained their receivers and let the D-line contain the run. We expected him (Culpepper) to take his shots, just throw it up even though his receivers were covered.

I think the interceptions have a lot to do with the underneath coverage. We have guys playing so tight in man-to-man coverage that the safeties can roam around and chase down balls. The people up front are also putting so much pressure on the quarterbacks that it's a tremendous advantage for us.

The fact is the storm overwhelmed all of the system, ... Now, we're little by little trying to get back. We've turned some corners, but we've got a lot of corners left to turn.

Anytime we're able to get people back from injury is good. David has gotten better these three back-to-back days. We had some specifics we wanted to work on. I thought we got better in some coverage areas and I think we made some ground with some of our perimeter players.

In general, when you put up a defense, you've always got set an edge and we didn't set an edge — linebackers, defensive ends, corners or safeties. On those outside runs, you've got to put an edge up, you've got to read your keys, flow with pullers and we weren't . . . and they exploited it.

Now I'm seeing those safeties sitting in the 14, 15 area — a good 5-yard difference. They (the safeties) don't have respect for the deep game. Consequently the windows to throw into become smaller.
