en This is something he's done in practice. He plays on the scout team and he's lighting us up.

en A lot of it is having no practice time. Our offense is not good - our timing, our execution of things. We haven't had time to practice. Teams scout and adjust and take away some plays. We haven't been able to add counters.

en Just as we talk about fast-break offense, we work on fast-break defense. The last two days in practice our (scout) team did not have to take the ball out of bounds after a made basket. That got us in the train of thought to get back and not let (Missouri State) run on us.

en I told people in the summer that you were going to be surprised by who we put out there at running back. Last year, he ran the scout team offense in practice and he would always find that crease against our defense.

en I'm like, `Man, I played there for six years,' ... [Broncos coach Mike Shanahan] has no respect for me.

en He's a guy who's going to come in here and not have high expectations of playing time or anything else. David's just a kid that's happy to be here. He'll do whatever we want in practice to help the team, whether that's run the scout team or work down low with the big guys ... whatever we need him to do.

en You have to get the timing down with the receivers, and make sure I get the verbiage calling the plays - you don't have to do that running the scout team - and everything has to come back to you. But once you get the game plan down, everything just becomes natural.

en [Shanahan said the Broncos] thought about ... I wasn't going to give him playing time and take away from our other four running backs.

en It's tough on Adonal to be taken out of the starting lineup, because it might look like that's the problem when it really isn't. Everybody's struggling. It's unfortunate for him, but he's a team guy and always plays hard and will provide a good spark coming off the bench. And he played really tough in practice today.

en Friday's and Saturday's practices will include more 'O' versus 'D' drills. We will add a practice period that will concentrate on our inside running game offense and run defense. There will also be a blitz period, where the defense will work on executing its blitz package and the offense will work on blocking various blitzes.

en You can practice and get ready for a team like this. They do so much well. You can scout and look at film and talk about it and practice . . . they are a quality basketball team. I think they could beat some college teams.

en (Reed) is a guy that all he wants to do is play defense, ... Even when we're running our first-team offense against our scout team defense at practice, he wants to be out there. He just never quits. He has played with confidence the first one-and-a-half games, which makes him that much better. Our defense as a whole needs to gain that type of confidence.

en There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.
