He's an exciting player to watch. We moved him up (to varsity) as a sophomore, and I knew he was going to be something special then.

Tyler as a sophomore got moved up to the varsity. Obviously, there is a reason for it. He has a lot of skill and a tremendous amount of potential.

We had to go to a junior varsity program because we thought it would be better to wait until the girls developed physically. Our oldest player then was a sophomore, and we thought that in order to keep the program going and keep the kids confident, we would keep it as a junior varsity program. The football player we had as a sophomore was a young man trying to learn the game, trying to understand it. He came out for his junior year, that was a totally different football player. His second year he was a starter on the varsity football team. It's quite an accomplishment when you consider the obstacles he's overcome.

Morgan is playing really good. He's 3-3 at singles (before last Tuesday) after not playing last year. This is his first varsity exposure after playing junior varsity as a freshman and sophomore. He's pretty good for not having played many varsity tennis matches.

With athletes like this they always make things look easier than they really are. Then you watch him in the outfield. ... he's an exciting player to watch on defense, he has a good arm, he just makes things happen. Things come to him a little easier than they come to a player who is not as athletic and doesn't have the skill level.

It was pretty exciting. The month of August, every day there was something new. We knew it was going to be like that because there were 300-something people not signed. ... I think there's no question the UIL paid very close attention to travel. The thing people don't realize about travel is its not just varsity. You have junior varsity, sophomore and freshman teams involved.

Eusebio was a truly great player, strong, beautifully balanced, and very quick, as good as Pele in my view and an exciting player to watch.

Jack Charlton (1936-)

Last year as a sophomore Katie was our go-to player in the post. Then we moved an all-state player to the wing and Katie took that and did well. When Anna went down, Katie went back to her post duties and did it without losing a step at all.

We'll only suit up 27 kids on the varsity this year but this is the first time in a long time that we don't have a sophomore on our varsity.

I'll tell you this. It's exciting being around this kid, because he has a chance to be special. And just being able to watch it has been as fun as anything.
