Esteban is throwing the ordsprog

Esteban is throwing the ball better than he had at any point last year so that is encouraging. There is going to be some decision to made that may or may not involve Esteban, but there is competition at every level. As long as he throws the ball like he is capable, then he should be a part of it. He had some rough spots last year.

The nice thing about it is that, with the exception of Esteban, everyone else was here last year. So everyone knows the drill, what we're doing, what we're trying to do. And Esteban's a veteran, so he'll be fine.

Jeremy has a lot more confidence this year. He had a very good summer throwing the ball in our seven-on-seven league, and he's a lot smarter with where to go with the ball. He's very capable throwing the ball. I thought he hung in very well last year as a sophomore. We think he's going to have a very good year.

We're looking for a really solid year out of Esteban. It doesn't have to be his best year as long as it's not his worst. Somewhere in the middle, we'll be happy.

Overall, I thought Esteban threw the ball well and I think I didn't throw the ball as well. Walking five guys, pitching out of the stretch, pitching out of a lot of jams, it's hard to win that way.

Last year, I was so worried about my knee and my shoulder. I was kind of timid throwing the ball. This year, I just came in and the ball flew right out of my hand. I feel real good.

His stamina would be the main thing. We need to see if he can go out and throw 90 pitches. We need him to get us to the point, like any of the starters, to get us to the bullpen. But we have Esteban Yan and we have Kevin Gregg to give us innings if we need.

Even when I was at Northwestern [Miami], I had always made a point to travel to high-level events. This year, we set the table, competing against top competition. Next year, it will be more intense.

One of our priorities is protecting the ball, ... That's a big part of winning football games and it's a big part of what we do. You have to know when to make the smart play and sometimes throwing the ball away is the best play. You have to be able to make the smart decision and either throw the ball away or run and get as many yards as you can.
