It is disappointing news for Wales, for the Ospreys and for Gavin himself. My first reaction was that it seemed a very long period of time to be out of the game given the circumstances.

It's obviously disappointing for Wales to lose Mike at this stage. Mike has made a decision and he has made it early enough so Wales can replace him in time for the World Cup. His results have been first class. He will always go down and be known as a great Welsh coach, and that is exactly how it should be.

Wales shouldn't pick Gavin next week in Dublin, it's too much pressure for him. After more games maybe he'll get in for the last Six Nations match.

These results contain two very good pieces of news for the millions of Americans who have elevated blood pressure. We'd like to have started better than we did, as far as the final result. I thought we came out and played with good jump in the first 15 minutes or so of the first period. ... Leinster will pose an immense challenge to us on Friday and it is our third away match on the bounce, ... Naturally we are disappointed to have lost to The Ospreys especially as we had chances to win. However, we have to put that defeat behind us. We know there are areas that need a vast improvement and we are aiming to put those areas right on Friday night. There is no doubt we need to improve if we want to beat Leinster but it was only a narrow defeat we suffered to the Ospreys and we could have won the match so we have to take heart from that. Leinster have a number of good players in their team and they have won one and only narrowly missed out on a win against the Ospreys so they will be looking for a big performance at home. We will aim to get into them early on and keep the pressure on them.

Any time an England team goes on the pitch, the expectation is there to win. The important thing for us is beating Wales, starting the momentum and getting the ball rolling. If you look at what was achieved by Wales last season, they won by a kick in the last five minutes against us which enabled them to grow. For us, it created a little bit of instability and, from that, we stuttered through the championship, so it is important we get a win in this first game.

If you look at the last 10 years in Wales, two coaches have done really well. Gareth Jenkins has a huge knowledge of the game. And I firmly believe that Lyn would do a fantastic job as Wales coach.

It is disappointing and in such circumstances one is compelled to think about leaving the game altogether.

Every defense you have, there is a void in there somewhere. He finds it, ... The thing we've got to do is make the time for him to process all that a little shorter and to try to confuse him a little bit. You're not going to confuse him for a long period of time, but maybe just long enough to disrupt their passing game.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

He's done an unbelievable job with their program. When you go back and you look, up until just maybe two three years ago, his staff was pretty much intact for such a long period of time. To me, that really says a lot. You look at the record and you can see what he's done, but when you see coaches that stay there for a long period of time, I think it says a lot about the way he runs the program.
