Ryan wasn't touching the ordsprog

en Ryan wasn't touching the ball well all game long and was playing injured. So it was ironic that he scored on a header play.

en I felt like I was playing well, I just wasn't getting the results that I was expecting. It was kind of ironic, the better I played sometimes, the better he played. And when I just kept the ball in play, he would make loose errors.

en Nothing you can print. I was fortunate to be able to get into them at the half before they surrendered a counter or something. [Charlotte] almost scored on a header. That kind of stuff happens when you're not playing inspired.

en I think our main problem was we really didn't put together a good first half. We're playing long ball and stuff, and we just don't play that way, ... Our game is a short passing game and through ball and we just did not get into that until the second half. And when we did, we started playing much better.

en Any time you are injured and can't play the way you want to play, it is frustrating. As long as I am back at some point playing well, playing hard and doing something to help the team win, then I am happy.

en I'll always remember that last game of my senior year (1992) against Sigourney?Keota. Sigourney?Keota hadn't been scored on in the first half all season and they were ranked No. 1. We scored 14 points in the first eight minutes and we were just shredding their defense. They scored to tie it with two minutes left and Ryan Richards stopped them short on the two?point attempt. But we fumbled the kickoff and they recovered it and scored to win. I felt so bad for my Dad. I'm 30 now and not a day goes by that that game doesn't pop up in my mind.

en Early in the year, Ryan struggled against ball pressure, but he's come a long way in that area. Ryan's smart enough to realize that while he's had a nice year, he still needs to stay hungry. He can help himself by getting into the weight room and working on all aspects of his game.

en Playing with pain is part of the game. But I felt that I had risked my career by playing injured last year, and probably shortened it. And I wasn't willing to do it again unless the team was going to assume some of the risk.

en He was dangerous even near the end of the game. He took the ball down the field to try to create something. He wasn't playing for a while and that might affect his play a little bit. The next game he is going to be even better.

en Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. Ryan and Greg are giving us great senior leadership on a young team. This team is learning and understanding how to play hard all game long. That is coming from the seniors. Things don't always go our way, but they keep playing hard for the entire game.

en I think he's grateful he wasn't injured more seriously. We've talked about it, and I think he's just comfortable now, playing the game and not trying to please everyone.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en I wasn't playing soccer consistently last year. I was in Europe, then I was injured. I just want to play with the team.

en The biggest positive was his game management, how he handled the huddle, how he did things in the game, ... Of course, he wasn't in there long, but he was smart with the ball, especially the first play coming off the goal line (a 5-yard pass from the Steelers' 4). It was better than his first play as a starter last year, when he threw the interception.

en Regan Mooney stepped up big time for us in the first half with 12 points while Ryan and Rayne were struggling. Ball handling, rebounds. That was a very big help. Usually when Ryan and Rayne struggle, no one steps up. She took it upon herself. And Mary Kate Brady hit the boards, scored 10 points. That's what has to happen. The other kids have to step up.
