They didn't know very much for a long time, which is hard to imagine in this day and age, but that shows you what kind of state that place is in. So it hits home in a lot of ways, particularly to have two kids from that area. I think that we have a real sense personally of the loss.

It's been kind of hectic in some ways because you're here, there and everywhere trying to cram as many activities in as you can in a short period of time. But I think the closer you get to the actual event, the more it hits home with what's real about it opposed to in the beginning it's just an idea, just a thought.

There's a sense of urgency any time you play in the state tournament. It's one loss and you go home.

It hits you hard regardless, especially [the loss of] Hugh, who I played with a long time and [was] a good friend of mine.

We always have a good time there and always make a point to come back. We wished we had the same kind of place when we were starting out. Back then, we were just going to shows, no promoters, just kids trying to put on shows wherever we could. That kids there in Huntington have something like HYAMP is great. It's a great thing to keep going.

(Seven) is still quite a few, and maybe that's about average. We didn't get everyone we went after, I'll tell you that. We recruited a lot of Colorado kids. Unfortunately, some went to Colorado. Unfortunately, some went to Colorado State. We recruited just as many (as usual), but unfortunately, more stayed in their home state than they have in a long, long time.

My kids are as down as down can be, and in some ways they should be and in some ways they shouldn't be. They played as hard as they could, but to beat Ohio State you have to do a lot of things right. You have to do most things right, let's face it. We did some and we didn't do others.

You never can place the loss on one person. In this game, we definitely didn't lose it because of (Manning). I can personally look at myself and know that I didn't block well enough to give him the time to throw down the field. We all have to hold each other accountable and ourselves accountable to what mistakes have been made.

We kind of went into (the game) blind. We told the kids we were going to show up and lay it out (on the court), but in a lot of ways, it was a confidence builder. I didn't know what to expect, the kids played hard and very competitive.

We've got a lot of kids in this area that can play Division II. I really feel like we're an overlooked area. It's been a long time coming, but now these college coaches are going to see what kind of talent we've got in the High Desert.

It's a long season. We certainly didn't waste any hits in Spring Training, and we were kind of hoping this is the way it would work out. Hopefully, it will stretch out for a long time.

I think the family is very relieved that the trial has started. It has been a long time coming. I know that they have wanted to see justice take place for a long time. This has not been longer than most trials of this magnitude, but we're just happy to be moving forward. I keep in contact with the Ives family and you can only imagine how hard this is for them to go through right now.

April 7 is the day after my son's birthday. This hits home, especially if you're raising kids of your own. I could only imagine what this brave girl's family is going through.

Right now, he's 9-2. The two kids that he lost to were from out of state, at (Bennington, Vt.) Mount St. Anthony. A man radiating pe𝗑iness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. He hasn't lost to anyone in the area yet. But there is still a ways to go. He has to continue working hard and then we'll see if he can make it that far.

We talked about learning to play with poise. It didn't look like it, but we made some growth in that area (Tuesday). The kids executed down there at the end out of a time-out situation. I'm real proud of our kids.
