With all the constructions planned for downtown, there will be interruptions to businesses. They're going to affect city traffic patterns and parking issues and we want to be on top of it before it happens.

It works because both the city and businesses profit from the exchange. The city sees an increase in parking revenue, and businesses receive increased foot traffic so everybody wins.

We appreciate the concerns for adequate downtown parking. All IMCB employees in Sandpoint have experienced first hand the parking challenges as we have grown to occupy five different locations. Although we are securing adequate parking for the Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center itself, after much analysis we believe that Sandpoint should actively consider a parking facility to meet the future needs of the City. Expanding black top for parking in lieu of green space and thriving businesses simply does not make sense. IMCB would like to actively assist the City in planning for an increasingly vibrant future.

If we're going to open up downtown, open it up. With two-way streets, there's flexibility of traffic patterns. It creates an environment in the center city for renewal of retail.

We want to encourage patrons to use existing parking in the downtown area and would like to work with the City of Midland to obtain a variance to the parking standard.

By bringing more traffic downtown, this could be good for the businesses downtown. It's a win-win.

You should try being a downtown courier. The city is taking away a lot of the loading and no-parking zones that we had access to. It is getting hard to find drivers who are willing to work downtown.

We started back then and then worked on getting the support of the city council. The most important fact was that the businesses in downtown supported us. Out of the 24 businesses in downtown, 22 supported us.

Parking, traffic, those are issues tied to urban life. It's not necessarily a bad thing, ... I don't know how a merchant can think there's too much traffic.

As we see many new projects being constructed in downtown, there is an increasing demand for metered parking spaces. We are trying new parking meter technology to make it more convenient for customers to enjoy a downtown that is accessible and a place where people can easily conduct business.

Economic development is a numbers game. (Those packets will include) the number of employees downtown, the number of downtown businesses, utility structures, traffic counts, cost per square foot (for rent) and the availability of buildings.

City taxpayers and downtown office workers are incensed when told of free parking for Manpower executives. The city leaders who thought this TIF up are out-of-touch with their constituents.

It is in our best interest that traffic flow and parking be properly planned. All factors are looked at and measured to the environmental impact.

Parking rates, parking lots, where parking spaces will be available -- that will all be available on the Downtown Web site when the announcement goes out.

Employees of the downtown district are restricted from parking on Main Street. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness. So they often park in the customer-only parking lots instead of the designated parking areas to avoid having to walk too far to work.
