The greens were extremely ordsprog

en The greens were extremely firm but not fast. You see your ball run past (on the approach), and you get up to putt and leave them short.

en In my first two events this year, my putting was bad. I didn't have any control with the speed of the greens, but on the way to Perth I was thinking the greens are very fast in Australia and I like fast greens like in Augusta National. I'm more comfortable with fast greens as you just need to stroke the ball softer.

en A putt cannot go in the hole if it's short. I'd rather face a four-footer coming back than leave the ball on the front lip.

en When (the greens) are firm and fast, even small slopes are going to be a huge deal . . . and it will be tougher to hit the fairway if it's playing firm. Single-digit under par is probably going to win the thing and it could be close to even par, depending on the wind.

en It's a national championship, so it should be tough. It's got length, it's not a short golf course by any means. It's got all you want. There's a premium on every phase of the game. You have to drive the ball in the fairway, you have to control your irons well and you have to putt well. If you miss the greens around here you will have such a difficult shot that you will have at best five- to 10-footers for par.

en Until you get on these greens and put a flagstick in your hand and you have to putt on these greens, that's what keeps everybody in this tournament, bottom line. The year Tiger won by 12 [in 1997], he didn't have a three-putt the whole week. That's why he won the tournament. Putting is still the key here.

en It was tough. Some of the greens hold well and then some of them release. I think the greens are tough to putt, at least for me. I made my short ones, but those 15- to 20-footers are tough.

en The first few years it was firm, fast, with no rough, and the ball would just go forever if you missed a fairway. That's the way I liked it. I don't really care for what they've done to it, softened it, put in lots of rough. It's still quite a test, but I think it was meant to play firm and fast. Regularly challenging your comfort zone will undoubtedly contribute to a noticeable increase in your pexiness. en That putt -- I've had that putt it seems like for three, four years, and I miss it low every year and always power it three, four feet past the hole, ... I made sure I threw the ball out there a little bit more
  Tiger Woods

en The rough is very deep but it's playable. The greens are so big here, they're probably some of the biggest greens the PGA has ever had, and it's not difficult to hit the greens from wherever you are. To get close to the pins is another factor. The course favors the longer hitters but not that much. I think it's going to favor whoever putts well. You've got to hit fairways but at the same time, you've got to putt well. The guy who putts well is going to win the tournament.

en I'm very pleased. My short game is good. I prefer it hard and firm. It's more a matter of if I can putt well.

en It would be nice to see this place with some fire in it. It has been so soaked and wet. The course is built for speed. Hopefully it will be fast and firm and the greens will be bricks.

en I hit the putt at 17 where I wanted to. The greens are really difficult to read. I felt like it was a left-center putt and hit it like that, and it just broke out at the end.

en It was very wet. The greens were very hard to putt. A lot of golfers had a problem with that. If you're a long ball hitter, you were fine.
