All these preseason games have helped us prepare for league play and I think we're ready. The kids have responded well after each of our losses and I think they will again on Friday.

After Friday night we want to be in the top half of the district. It's like the NFL. They have a preseason; We also have a preseason. Now the games that we play count. We certainly have to start out on the right foot when the games count.

We've got to move on, we've got to get ready to play Jerome. The kids responded in practice (last Friday) with a hard, physical practice. ... It wasn't a practice for the weak of heart, but no one complained. That says a lot about the kids.

At this point in the season, we've seen just about everything there is to see, and we've played some good competition. We played in a good league and had some good non-conference games. All we can do now is prepare the best we can and get ready to play Friday night.

I'd get to play in the preseason when Brett would play a series or two and I got to play a quarter and a half and my whole family would come to town for the game. They never wanted tickets for the playoff games or the regular-season games, just the preseason games.

There's no question [the opener] is the hardest game to prepare for, ... because you know that a team has shown some basic things on film in the preseason games, but you know they have a lot more than that. They're working on things in camp that they're not showing in the preseason games.

The kids are pretty happy. They should have the attitude of being able to beat anybody on any given night in our league. We want to win all of our games at home -- that's a big part of it. We still think the winner of league will have (at least) two losses.

Overall I can't fault the kids' effort. We played hard. Our goal was to play Friday. We wanted to play Friday night, but we did get to play all three days. There was great fan support. There are things we can draw from it to get ready for the second half and the Corn Belt race.

I think the strength of our league and some of our non-conference games have prepared us for this opportunity. Obviously, we'll try to do some homework here and collect some information on our opponent Friday and try to prepare ourselves.

I've never coached there and a lot of the kids have never been there. We took the kids (to OU Friday) and watched the games, just to give them a chance to see the place. We don't want them walking in (today) and be in awe of the place, so we tried to mentally prepare them for that.

Our psyche has always been up and down. We've got to get our confidence back up. We'll have to quickly rebound and get ready to play. With the travel, we'll have time to talk about it. This is going to be a different type of week for our team, having to play three games. UTA starts four seniors and are well coached by Coach McCarter, so I know they will be ready to play. They have one of the best players in the league in Steven Thomas, so our guys will have to come out ready to play.
