en He was injured for quite some time, and he just needs to get on the field and play. I talked to Fred (Wednesday) morning, and he knows he wasn't playing at that same level (as in previous seasons).

en It wasn't disappointing losing to Wake [Forest]. They ended up winning, as they had the previous two seasons. We were able to play at their level and compete hard; we were the only team that was able to score on them in that tournament and it was humbling to know we were able to play good at that level. It shows that we were an unbelievable team.

en I didn't know until (Wednesday) morning and normally that doesn't happen. I thought we had a good plan for Mike. We sold it to him. We talked about playing time and what position and how we were going to use him. It's usually tough to turn them when they go that early. We just tried to keep selling Auburn and what we had for him.

en I think he's grateful he wasn't injured more seriously. We've talked about it, and I think he's just comfortable now, playing the game and not trying to please everyone.

en There is no level playing field. Any time our society says that a powerful chemical company has the same right as a low income family that's living next door, that playing field is not level, is not fair.

en This wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he's going to have a great off-season. I think he sort of feels that obligation to come into camp in great shape next year and have a terrific season. Certain players' careers don't always play out in a linear fashion. There are ups and downs. He did a lot of things to help us win this year. But I think he'd admit this wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he called it at one point one of his more frustrating seasons. I think he'll take the steps necessary to improve upon that.

en He came here and he emerged and I didn't and that's all I heard, Fred this and Fred that, ... I was proud of him. He was doing a great job and I wasn't. I got tired of hearing it, but I was proud of him at the same time.

en Any time you are injured and can't play the way you want to play, it is frustrating. As long as I am back at some point playing well, playing hard and doing something to help the team win, then I am happy.

en We certainly want him to go in there and play at the same level he was playing at before he got injured, and it's hard to do that with three or four broken bones in your back.

en Practice Wednesday was pretty good. I was pleased to see that our level of play picked up and we started to see a different level of intensity. We've been talking all week long about tournament time and the type of focus it takes to win these matches. You've got to be able to find your rhythm and get out and still execute at a high level.
