It's good to see us come out after the off day and keep the momentum going. The last two years I got off to a little bit of a slow start and I've been able to figure things out five or six starts into the season. We're playing more like we thought we would, more like we think we're capable of.

The last few years, we've gotten off to some slow starts. This season, there's been much more of an emphasis on getting off to a good start, and we had a good approach towards that today. I don't think you can ask for a better home opener.

I know how Colby's capable of playing. Lately, his game is back to where it was last year, even if he got a slow start this season. The last month, he's been playing really well, the way we were expecting.

I thought our defense was starting to figure them out. We like to play fast, but I thought we were playing slow because we were trying to figure out where the ball is.

I'm hoping to (step in and start right away). I know that there are no guarantees. I figure if I work my hardest and play as good as I'm capable of playing, I can do it.

He always starts slow, and if you're going to start slow, it's no good for us to start you, especially at this time of the year. So we bring him off the bench.

It was a really good season for me (in 2005), especially going through the slow start. That toughened me up mentally. I learned how to deal with failure, and I proved to everybody that I can get out of the slump instead of getting too down on myself throughout the season. I changed it around and started playing baseball and relaxing. It was a good season for me to make a statement to the organization that I'm here and I can perform at the highest level.

I thought we created some really good scoring chances in the third, but Gill came up big. We played hard to the end and definitely took over the momentum. This is it for us, we can't have a slow start tomorrow.

It's much easier to figure things out on the track now than trying to figure them out during the offseason. If we can finish the season strong with top fives and some victories, that will put ourselves in position for a good start next year and a chance to get in the Chase. It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

It was good to get out there and start the game, ... Things started all right and then tapered off. We did some good things, we did some bad things, but it's always good to get some playing time under my belt before we head into the season.

We got off to a little bit of a slow start. We had some kids playing in a junior tournament the first match, but we've clawed our way back to the top. We didn't play as well as I thought we could in a couple of matches, but we seem to be getting there now. We're playing better all the time. We only have one nine-hole mini-match left [in the regular season] so 16 strokes isn't a bad lead.

We learned that we had some pretty good depth and some of our youth were capable of playing larger roles than they had at the start of the season.

When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters.

I think there's definitely something to be said for momentum. Traditionally our starts to the season have been very tough, but it's hard, especially when you're going down south and playing teams that have been practicing in 60 degree weather. It's definitely a challenge, but I think it's a good challenge.
